Solar Opposites Fans Swear They Spotted A Sneaky Rick And Morty Easter Egg

The world of cartoons is getting wilder by the second, with mature-themed, hyper-violent titles being all the rage these days. And fans can't seem to get enough of all the gut-busting mayhem these well-crafted shows offer. Among these adult-oriented animated masterpieces, one that truly stands out as a powerhouse is the Hulu series "Solar Opposites." It's really just your basic family sitcom if the members were incompetent aliens stranded on Earth with a pupa that will eventually destroy humanity.

The series has incredibly impressive scores on Rotten Tomatoes, and some of the Hulu exclusive's success can most assuredly be attributed to Justin Roiland, the show's co-creator, based on some of his prior dealings. For those who don't know, Roiland also holds that title for the ridiculously popular Adult Swim series "Rick and Morty." Many fans quickly noticed the similarities between the two well-received shows, including the animation style, brilliantly realized sci-fi humor, and masterful references to pop culture.

While the characters have yet to encounter each other in either series, some eagle-eyed fans spotted what could be a link between the two in the form of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it Easter egg.

There just might be a hint of Summer in Solar Opposites

In "Solar Opposites" Season 1, Episode 6, "The P.A.T.R.I.C.I.A. Device," main characters Korvo (Justin Roiland) and Terry (Thomas Middleditch), create a robot named P.A.T.R.I.C.I.A who is programmed to act like female sitcom characters. But the programming goes awry, causing her to wreak havoc on their suburbia paradise.

During the carnage and senseless destruction, the aftermath of P.A.T.R.I.C.I.A's hilariously heinous efforts is front and center. In the corner of the frame at the 16:12 mark, a damaged photo can be seen to the left of the man impaled by several darts and a dartboard. According to u/allisauruss on Reddit, the woman in the photo looks suspiciously like Morty's older sister, Summer (Spencer Grammer), from "Rick and Morty." Several users agreed, pointing out that this could be a connection between the shows that hints at a possible shared universe.

Nothing has been officially confirmed regarding the connection, but Roiland indicated in an interview with Radio Times ahead of Season 2 that he likes the idea of "Solar Opposites" and "Rick and Morty" being in the same world. "It almost kind of feels like they could be happening in the same world or universe, you know, or the same planet almost," he claimed. "And I kind of like that idea, that that's what's going on in one or many realities, that's sort of the case. There's a Rick and Morty and Beth and Summer and Jerry somewhere you know across the country."

While it's hard to tell if it's just a random redhead or Summer in the photo, there's no denying that seeing the worlds of "Solar Opposites" and "Rick and Morty" collide would be a must-watch endeavor that fans would not want to miss.
