Dave Bautista Joins Animated Film Groove Tails

Dave Bautista, the star behind big-ticket titles like Blade Runner 2049 and the Guardians of the Galaxy film series, has locked in his next project. Per Deadline, Bautista will lend his voice in "multiple roles" in the animated action-comedy film Groove Tails

The actor joins Jamie Foxx for the film, which is set in a world where mice take part in a competitive street dance competition. No details on Bautista's characters (or Foxx's, for that matter) have been released. We'll update you as we learn more.

Foxx will produce alongside Michael Becker of Imprint Entertainment. How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda 2 animator Cameron Hood is on board to direct Groove Tails, and he will work from a story developed by Johnny Mack and a script rewritten by Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow. Mack will serve as executive producer of Groove Tails in coordination with John Sherman and Jeff Bowl.

Record producer, rapper, singer-songwriter, and DJ Timbaland is in talks to climb aboard Groove Tails to provide music. If that deal goes through, he'll work with music publishing and licensing company Jingle Punks (Lego Ninjago, Step Up) in developing the soundtrack.

Bautista is currently shooting the untitled Avengers 4 film, and will next be seen on the silver screen in Avengers: Infinity War. Beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the mixed martial artist and bodybuilder turned actor has stuck his feet in plenty of different projects, recently closing a deal with STX to develop an action-comedy franchise that he will star in and produce. Additionally, Bautista just wrapped filming on Hotel Artemis opposite Jodie Foster and completed production on Sylvester Stallone's upcoming Escape Plan sequels.
