Krysten Ritter Took A Hard Punch On The Set Of Jessica Jones
Although Jessica Jones doesn't throw quite as many punches as some of the other Marvel heroes on Netflix, things do get physical on the set.
Krysten Ritter, who plays the detective who also happens to be a superhero, told Women's Health that she took an accidental uppercut to the jaw while filming the upcoming second season, causing her to nearly bite through her tongue and pass out. "I saw the blood everywhere and I panicked," she said. But she quickly recovered and was back on the set the next day.
Ritter also admitted that she wasn't exactly a martial arts master when she first started filming for the show. That's why she started boxing to train. "I felt like such a loser the first time," she said. "I didn't know how to throw a punch. Why would I? Who knows how to throw a punch? Now I do it all the time, and it makes me feel strong. It's so f***ing fun."
She said the training is cathartic and reminds her that the mind is just as important as muscles when doing stunts. "You have to focus and be present," she said. "Because if you aren't present, you're going to get hit in the face."
The second season of Jessica Jones is expected to premiere next year.
