The Legacies Character You Are Based On Your Zodiac Sign

The CW's "Legacies" is a spinoff of "The Originals," which is itself a spinoff of "The Vampire Diaries." It brings the story back to Mystic Falls, where Hope Mikaelson attends The Salvatore School for the young and gifted, the boarding school for supernatural beings that Caroline and Alaric opened together when "The Vampire Diaries" concluded. The show boasts witches, werewolves, vampires, one tribrid (Hope Mikaelson), and humans, and all the signs of the zodiac are well represented.

As highlighted by Hope's voiceover at the beginning of the series, "Legacies" explores how heroism and villainy depends largely upon perspective. Across the show's four seasons, we can see the many strengths and weaknesses of all the characters and the signs that they embody. Keep reading if you want to know which "Legacies" character you are, based on your zodiac sign.

For those of you still watching the series, don't worry — we won't include any Season 4 spoilers!

Aries: Ethan Machado (March 20—April 19)

Ethan Machado (Leo Howard) is the son of the former Sheriff of Mystic Falls. He entered the story as a human football player at Mystic Falls High in Season 2, when Hope was posing as a student. It was in Season 3 that Ethan became a show regular and we got to see his personality shine. When MG could not compel Ethan because of the vervain in his system, they struck up a friendship, conspiring to work together as superhero and sidekick.

This desire to keep others safe is a prominent feature in Aries, a cardinal fire sign known for its bravery, energy, and passion. This desire to protect comes from the sign's planetary ruler, Mars, the Roman god of war. Mars was the protector of Rome, earning a positive association and the devotion of Romans. Ethan embodies this brave spirit. But when Ethan asked MG to turn him into a vampire, we could see the impulsivity that Aries is also known for rising to the surface.

This impulsivity comes from being a fire sign with a cardinal modality. Fire signs are spontaneous, active, and passionate, while cardinal signs like to take charge and get things going. Because of this combination, Aries often leap before they look, taking action before contemplating the consequences. Ethan's impulsive nature and his desire to protect others leads to him being gravely injured and transformed into a supernatural creature (to save his life) at the end of Season 3.

Taurus: Jed Tien (April 19—May 20)

Jed Tien (Ben Levin) is the alpha of the Salvatore School werewolf pack. He was a recurring character in Season 1 and Season 2 but became a series regular in Season 3, when we learned more about his past. In the first two seasons, Jed embodies the more challenging traits of Taurus, a fixed earth sign known for being stubborn and uncompromising but reliable. The stubbornness that Taureans are known for is twofold: It comes from their fixed modality, but also from being an earth sign.

In the third and fourth seasons, we see Taurus' admirable qualities surface in Jed. He is 100% loyal to his pack and his friends. This loyalty comes from Taurus' fixed modality, proving there are always positive and challenging traits to each sign. Earth signs are known for being patient, reliable, and dependable. Although Jed flounders in Season 1 and Season 2, struggling with the emotional highs and lows young wolves go through, we see how duty-driven he is after he becomes a series regular.

Jed's werewolf nature is another link to Taurus. Werewolves are beasts of the earth who love nature. Taurus' ruling planet Venus, a goddess of beauty and love, has strong associations with nature, abundance, and fertility. Venus is certainly not a mild-mannered goddess. She is known for her volatility and we see this reflected in Jed's personality. Although bulls (which represent Taurus) are slow to anger, you're in trouble once they let loose.

Gemini: Josie and Lizzie Saltzman (May 20—June 21)

The Saltzman twins are the last remaining members of the powerful Gemini Coven. They are ideal representatives of the sign of Gemini, a mutable air sign known for its duality, chatty personality, and quick mind. Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) and Josie (Kaylee Bryant) are complete opposites. Lizzie is extroverted, sassy, and blonde, while Josie is introverted, sweet, and brunette. They have a complicated relationship because, someday, they will have to complete the merge, and only one will survive. They love each other so much that this reality is impossible to face.

While Lizzie is a bully in the first couple of seasons, she grows and learns to control her temper and her magic later in the series, embodying the light twin. Josie, the sweet goody-goody twin, represses her shadow content and negative feelings so thoroughly that when she is tricked into doing dark magic in Season 2, her darkness takes over, leading to her embodying the dark twin. Geminis are naturally dualistic. The trick for this sign is to strive for balance while not rejecting or ignoring their dark side, thus giving it more power.

As a mutable sign, Geminis are known for being spontaneous, open-minded, and indecisive. Lizzie certainly can't decide who she wants to date, and you never know what she will do next. Meanwhile, Josie is open-minded, accepting people for who they are. Air signs like Gemini are all about communication, something we see reflected in both Saltzman twins. Lizzie and Josie are opinionated, talkative, and think on their feet.

Cancer: Rafael Waithe (June 21—July 22)

Rafael Waithe (Peyton Alex Smith) is a young werewolf experiencing his first transformation in Episode 1, Season 1. Like most new wolves, he finds it difficult to control his emotions and has a quick temper. But underneath these outbursts, we can sense Rafael is sympathetic and loyal, suggesting he is a Cancer. This cardinal water sign is known for being moody and sensitive, but tenacious. Rafael's devotion to his foster brother and best friend Landon is the first hint we get at Rafael's softer side.

Cancer is a water sign ruled by the Moon. Water signs are emotionally sensitive, creative, and intuitive people. Here on Earth, the Moon affects the tides, like it affects Cancer's emotional state, sometimes making them erratic and unpredictable like Rafael. This connection to the Moon is also an obvious link to Rafael's werewolf nature, as he changes into his wolf form with the full moon.

Another clear indicator of Rafael being a Cancer is how much family means to him. Cancers are more family-oriented than any other zodiac sign. Having grown up in foster care, Rafael always wanted to have a family and a home. The Salvatore School gave him a home. The pack gave him a family. But when Rafael is reunited with his biological parents in Season 3 and sent to an idyllic loop world with his parents to save him from dying, he finally gets to be part of the family he always wanted.

Leo: Kaleb Hawkins (July 22—August 22)

Kaleb Hawkins (Chris Lee) is a classic Leo representation. Leo is a fixed fire sign known for their confidence, arrogance, and vanity, but they are also known for their generosity, bravery, and passion. The trick to understanding Leo is that all their challenging or negative traits come from an overabundance of their positive traits. Passion becomes jealousy, confidence turns to arrogance, and tenacity calcifies into stubbornness.

Leo loves being the center of attention and we see this in Kaleb during the talent show, the school musical, and even out on the football field. Leos are dramatic with a capital D. But sometimes Leo doth protest too much, putting on a show of confidence to avoid vulnerability, something Kaleb does with Cleo. Despite Kaleb's bravado, he cares more than he likes to show and has the passionate nature of those with a fire element. Like all fire signs, Leos are spontaneous and fun, just like Kaleb.

Leos can get caught up in themselves and can sometimes be self-centered, but a Leo's big heart and loyalty soften this flaw. This BFF, ride-or-die vibe comes from their fixed modality. Sure, they are stubborn, but they will stand by your side until the bitter end. We see Kaleb's stellar loyalty in his friendships with MG and the super squad. There is nothing he wouldn't do for a friend.

Virgo: Alaric Saltzman (August 22—September 22)

Loyal, kind, and hardworking, Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) brings these Virgo traits to "Legacies" as the headmaster of The Salvatore School, Lizzie and Josie's dad, and the de facto father figure for Hope. Virgo's intellectual abilities are reflected in Alaric's work as a preeminent occult scholar. Virgo is a mutable earth sign, exhibiting traits that can seem contradictory. Earth signs are known for their practical and down-to-earth nature, and we see this emerge once Alaric becomes a father. But earth signs like Virgo are also sensual creatures who enjoy physical pleasures, as we see in Alaric's enjoyment of bourbon.

Having a mutable modality infuses Virgo with a curious nature and a quick mind. They are flexible and open-minded, something Alaric shows as he adjusts to many twists of fate. Alaric goes from hunting vampires to befriending them in "The Vampire Diaries," and then becomes responsible for the education and safety of supernaturals in "Legacies." Virgos know the devil is in the details, and analytical people like Alaric are excellent at noticing the little clues that solve mysteries, saving the kids of The Salvatore School repeatedly. This analytical mind comes from Virgo's mutable modality.

Virgo's planetary ruler is Mercury. If you recall, this is also the planetary ruler of Gemini, revealing the connection that helps Alaric understand his daughters. Teenage girls might be one of the great mysteries in life, but Alaric understands his daughters' motivations because he shares them. Mercury is also a psychopomp. Considering Alaric has died and come back — once as a vampire and then again as a human — we'd say he has an intimate understanding of the afterlife.

Libra: Milton 'MG' Greasley (September 22—October 23)

Libra is a cardinal air sign known for being sociable, fair-minded, and indecisive. Milton 'MG' Greasley (Quincy Fouse) perfectly embodies Libra's positive and more challenging traits as we watch him mature and evolve during the series. Symbolized by the scales of justice, Libra loves justice, harmony, and balance. Friendship is important to Libras and they don't enjoy being alone. We see this by how devastated MG is when the super squad snubs him after he doesn't back Hope's plan to save Landon from the prison world.

Like other air signs, Libras are curious and perceptive. This gives them great insight into others' motivations, making it difficult to make decisions because they can see each situation from multiple perspectives. This can also manifest as Libras being non-confrontational. We see this wishy-washy trait in MG in the early seasons of "Legacies," but he finally stands up for himself after Alyssa Chang (Olivia Liang) cheats on him with Jed.

Once MG learns to stay true to himself, we see his cardinal modality surface in his behavior and he becomes a leader amongst the super squad. Cardinal signs are motivated people who like taking charge. A cardinal air sign like Libra will have good ideas leading to excellent plans. But unlike some cardinal signs, Libras know how to be diplomatic rather than pushy, leading through influence rather than brute force or bullying. Libra's planetary ruler is Venus, making them an incredibly romantic and loving sign, as we see in MG's devotion to Lizzie.

Scorpio: Hope Mikaelson (October 23—November 22)

Scorpio is a misunderstood fixed water sign with two ruling planets. Scorpio's ancient ruler, Mars, imbues this sign with the bravery of a warrior, giving Scorpio a predilection toward violence. Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) certainly exhibits these traits, but they are unsurprising attributes for the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson, the infamous vampire-werewolf hybrid. Fortunately, Hope uses her fighting abilities and magical powers for good.

Scorpio's fixed modality makes Hope tenacious. Once she has an aim in her head, she will do anything to accomplish it, especially when trying to protect Landon. Sometimes Hope sidelines everyone in the super squad, including Alaric. She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, believing she must do everything on her own. This isn't unusual for Scorpios. Like the scorpion that represents this sign, Hope wears armor around her heart, expecting to lose the things she loves. Because of this she tries to not rely on anyone. Scorpio's modern ruler, Pluto, has associations with occultism, magic, regeneration, transformation, and destruction — associations one would expect from a powerful Mikaelson witch who is also a werewolf with a vampire side waiting to be triggered by death.

These associations with death give Scorpio its bad reputation, but what people forget about Scorpio is that their water element makes them sensitive, intuitive, and artistic, tempering their darkness. These traits are reflected in Hope's talent for painting. Hope is perceptive, like all water signs, and despite trying to play down her emotions, she is always aware of the feelings of those around her. We certainly see Hope's water element and fixed modality in action when she falls in love with Landon, moving heaven and earth to save him.

Sagittarius: Landon Kirby (November 22—December 21)

Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi) came to The Salvatore School with his foster brother and best friend Rafael but could not stay because Alaric didn't believe he was a supernatural creature. Eventually, Landon found his place at the school and discovered he was a phoenix, a creature capable of resurrecting from their ashes. This firebird of fables is the first link to Landon's zodiac sign. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign, known for being funny, generous, and idealistic, and Landon exemplifies these traits.

Fire signs are creative and passionate people who are ardent lovers. We see these traits clearly in Landon, who is honest about his feelings for Hope from the very beginning. He is also a musician, writing songs and lyrics. Fire signs are also known for having a strong moral compass to guide their actions, which is something we see Landon show repeatedly, even when the right thing doesn't give him what he wants.

Signs with a mutable modality are open-minded deep thinkers who are comfortable with change. They are the philosophers of the zodiac, wandering the earth searching for truth, wisdom, and experiences. Mutable signs like Sagittarius are curious people who love learning. We see this enthusiasm in Landon repeatedly. He loves researching monsters and discovering how to vanquish the beasts Malivore sends to The Salvatore School.

Capricorn: Dorian Williams (December 21—January 20)

Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign known for being responsible, down-to-earth, and disciplined. Dorian Williams (Demetrius Bridges) came into the franchise in "The Vampire Diaries," working as an intern under Alaric at the armory after his family were killed by Stephan during one of his ripper periods. Ultimately, Dorian set aside his need for vengeance against Stephan and vampires, deciding to work as a librarian at The Salvatore School, hoping to protect humans from supernaturals by helping supernaturals learn to control themselves.

Capricorns are known for being workaholics and we see this in Episode 7 of Season 1 when Dorian says the only day he takes off all year is remembrance day. Earth signs can be a little stiff and inflexible, loving rules and structure. These traits are perfect for a librarian, or a high school principal, which is the job Dorian takes when he leaves The Salvatore School after he marries Emma. Despite being focused on work, Capricorns are duty-driven and traditional people who value family, something Dorian proves when he leaves a job he loves for his wife's peace of mind.

As a cardinal sign, Capricorns are natural leaders who enjoy orchestrating plans, as we saw when Dorian showed Alaric the plan he had created for Josie and Lizzie's merge day. This forethought reveals the practical way Capricorns show up for the people they care about. Dorian knew merge day would devastate Alaric and that he would need someone to step in and oversee the ritual. Dorian, like most Capricorns, might be an uncompromising know-it-all sometimes, but he is also the rock you can rely on.

Aquarius: Ryan Clarke (January 20–February 18)

Ryan Clarke (Nick Fink) is an agent at Triad and Malivore's first son. Clarke is Landon's half-brother and an antagonist in "Legacies." As we learn more about him and his backstory, it becomes clear that Clarke's ambition in life isn't to destroy the world. At first, all he wanted was for his father to care about him. When he realized his dad would never love him the way he needed, Clarke's life path resembled the archetypal energy of Aquarius, a fixed air sign.

Aquarians are independent thinkers who want to build new worlds by tearing down old paradigms. The life theme of many Aquarians is distilled down to a struggle between the child and the parent. They become involved in an energetic battle between tradition and progress. Aquarians are rebels and revolutionaries who value freedom above all else. Like all air signs, Aquarians like Clarke are inquisitive and quick-witted individuals with a knack for thinking outside the box.

Unlike other air signs, Aquarians are gifted with a fixed modality, giving them tenacity in abundance. Like Clarke, this sign is excellent at committing to a plan and seeing it through, but a fixed modality can also make Aquarians more stubborn than the other air signs. After Clarke becomes a human, we see the loyalty and humanitarian nature Aquarius is known for rising to the surface, especially when he helps Hope and the super squad try to exorcize Malivore from Landon's body.

Pisces: Cleo Sowande (February 18—March 20)

Cleo Sowande (Omono Okojie) enters the story in Season 3, quickly becoming an important character and part of the super squad's fight against Malivore. Cleo is a muse from Greek mythology. If any zodiac sign has major muse vibes, it's Pisces. This mutable water sign is known for being gentle, wise, intuitive, and artistic, and Cleo exemplifies these Pisces traits. Cleo's artistic talents are showcased during fundraising day in Episode 7, Season 3, when she helps Hope make a bust with Landon's remains.

Although we don't know if Cleo is one of the good guys at first, it soon becomes clear just how selfless and kind she is. In flashbacks, we see her saving her grandmother and her village in West Africa. When we learn about her connection to the artifact in Season 3, we find out that Cleo is the type of person who will sacrifice her happiness and freedom to protect others, choosing to be confined in the artifact. This willingness to sacrifice herself for the good of others is something Pisces is known for.

As a water sign, Pisces is sympathetic and intuitive, making them incredibly empathetic. Don't make the mistake of thinking a Pisces is weak, however. Although they might lack boundaries, like many mutable signs, they have the strength and depth of the ocean. They are natural philosophers with a wealth of knowledge to draw upon. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and is ruled by Neptune. Like Cleo, Neptune is connected to the spiritual realm, magic, and dreams, something Cleo embodies with her power to inspire others as a muse and, later, seeing the future as an oracle.
