Netflix Releases Gritty Wheelman Trailer
Things get violent quickly in the trailer for Netflix's upcoming thriller Wheelman. The movie stars Captain America: The Winter Soldier's Frank Grillo as a getaway driver who finds himself in a life-or-death situation after a bank robbery gone wrong. As he deals with mysterious orders from an unknown caller, he'll have to figure out who double-crossed him before his family pays the price.
The trailer begins with Grillo's character waiting in a car, headphones in. His latest pick-up is at a dingy shop, and his passengers push him a little further than he wants to go, asking for his name and trying to get into a bag that he clearly wants to keep secret. "I'll just call you Wheelman," his passenger determines.
Eventually, he drops off the passengers and they begin the bank robbery, which quickly goes awry. In the middle of it, he gets a call from their boss, telling him to leave them behind. "I'm not leaving them behind," he replies. "They're going to kill you," says the caller.
"You better do what I tell you to do, you hear me?" the caller tells him, as he begins to drive away from gunfire. "If you don't listen to me, you're gonna get hurt. I know you got a wife and daughter." Grillo's quest to save his family and himself begins to turn explosive in the rest of the trailer, which shows off car chases, fights, and some stunning action sequences.
Wheelman was written and directed by No Road to Follow's Jeremy Rush, with Grillo and his frequent collaborator Joe Carnahan (The A-Team) producing. The movie hits Netflix on Oct. 20.
