The Dr. Now Project My 600-Lb Life Fans Want To See

In the world of reality TV show mainstays, one that continues to stand out from the crowd is Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, also known as Dr. Now. Having appeared in every episode and season of the hit TLC show, "My 600-Lb Life," Dr. Now is an Iranian-born doctor working out of Houston, Texas. Dr. Now specializes in vascular surgery and bariatric surgery, which he uses to perform weight loss surgery procedures on the morbidly obese individuals who appear on the show. Before they can be approved for surgery, however, Dr. Now puts them on a strict diet and exercise regime in order to get them down to a safe size for surgery.

Dr. Now's no-nonsense nature and brutal remarks have made him beloved by TV viewers everywhere. The doctor has little patience for excuses created by the show's participants as to why they're not losing weight, whether that be water weight stories, denying that they've been overeating, or even claiming that they don't burn calories. Dr. Now only wants to help out his patients, even if it means giving them some much needed tough love. And fans can't get enough of it. Fans love the doctor so much that a new idea has been proposed that seems way too good to pass up on.

Fans want a Dr. Now spinoff series

A Reddit thread started by u/90skid91 offers a unique idea for fans of "My 600-Lb Life" to chew on. "Whether it's another TLC show or done by Netflix. I think a documentary about Dr. Now's life and career including his juggling being on a 'reality show' while still working as a bariatric doctor in his profession would be fascinating," they say. "I'd love to hear what his colleagues and others in his field think about him and learn about his career and adjusting to the United States." Others fully supported the idea, such as u/ROCKKITTY81, who commented, "I'd be here for it, for sure!!" Similarly, u/lkamm says they would love to hear more of his story.

Other users, such as u/Honorine1644, expressed curiosity in more specific areas of Dr. Now's life, such as his years in Iran. Dr. Now, born in Tehran, got his medical degree from University of Tehran in 1970. Since then, he has been a part of numerous medical organizations such as the American College of Surgery, The American Medical Association, and the Texas Medical Association. Today, he is currently affiliated with Houston Obesity Surgery and practices at numerous hospitals throughout Houston including First Street Hospital, Renaissance Hospital, Surgery Specialty Hospital, and University General Hospital. After providing so much insight and motivation for both the show's participants and viewers at home, the time seems right for Dr. Now to shine.
