There Might Be A Very Surprising Cameo In Thor: Ragnarok

Contains potential spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok

This is far from confirmed, but rumor has it that Matt Damon will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cameo in Thor: Ragnarok.

According to Weekly Planet, the podcast of ComicBook.com, Damon shows up in an especially unexpected place. "There's a scene set on Asgard, in which we watch an Asgardian theater production that essentially recounts the entirety or 'Thor 1,' like as a play, and in this  theater piece the role of Loki is played by an Asgardian actor played by Matt Damon."

If this is true, it would be a scene pretty similar to when Arya Stark watched a theater production about her family on Game of Thrones. However, we have to emphasize that this is still just a rumor at this point.

A cameo from Damon would definitely be a surprise. He doesn't have any obvious ties to director Taika Waititi, and he's never been in a comic book movie. Would this cameo prevent him from taking a different, bigger role in the MCU? We'll have to wait to find out.

Thor: Rangarok arrives in theaters Nov. 3. Meanwhile, find out which Marvel role Damon famously turned down.
