The Last Jedi Novelization Won't Be Released Until After The Movie

Lucasfilm isn't taking any chances when it comes to spoilers about Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Del Rey, the publishing company that handles many of the Star Wars books, revealed on Twitter that the novelization of the upcoming movie will be released March 6, 2018. That's almost three months after the film will hit theaters this December. Back in 2015, the novelization of The Force Awakens was released the same day as the movie.

Although Del Rey didn't explain why the book will come out so late, it could be to prevent any significant details from appearing anywhere except in Rian Johnson's movie. But it may also be so the book doesn't get lost in the shuffle when the film comes out.

There will, however, be other Last Jedi books released on Dec. 15. Abrams books will have The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which has in-depth breakdowns of characters, creatures, and settings in the movie. And publisher Dorling Kindersley will release The Last Jedi: Visual Dictionary, a definitive guide to the characters, locations, and technology in the flick.

While we wait for December, check out some of the biggest mysteries surrounding The Last Jedi.
