Game Of Thrones' Aidan Gillen To Play James Joyce In New Movie
Contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season 7 finale
Now that Littlefinger can't connive anymore on Game of Thrones, actor Aidan Gillen is moving on to slightly more peaceful pastures.
Deadline reports that Gillen has signed on to play Irish writer and poet James Joyce in the upcoming film James and Lucia.
Written and to be directed by Robert Mullan (Mad To Be Normal), the movie centers on the life of Joyce as he writes Finnegans Wake, while his daughter Lucia's mental health begins to break down. A professional dancer, she was diagnosed as schizophrenic in the mid-'30s, and a failed romance with playwright Samuel Beckett caused a turn for the worse. Meanwhile, the nearly blind Joyce protected and supported his daughter.
Filming will begin early next year in Dublin and Luxembourg.
The Irish-born Gillen famously played Lord Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish on Game of Thrones since the beginning, but his character met his maker at the end of Arya Stark's dagger in the season 7 finale. Gillen also had roles on HBO's The Wire, the Netflix series Peaky Blinders, and in 2014's The Maze Runner. He'll reprise his role in Maze Runner: The Death Cure, which hits theaters in January.
