HIMYF Fans Have Strong Feelings About Who Sophie Should Be With In The End
It is difficult to talk about Hulu's new show "How I Met Your Father" without at the very least acknowledging its iconic predecessor "How I Met Your Mother." Created for CBS and lasting an impressive nine seasons, the series starred Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, and Cobie Smulders. Radnor's Ted Mosby is a hopeless romantic on the hunt for this true love which results in finding his wife Tracy (Cristin Milioti) at the end of the series. Though the show ended with a divisive finale, the legacy of the series still remains.
Since then, "How I Met Your Father" has been paving its own way. This time taking place from the female perspective, the series follows Sophie's (Hilary Duff) exploits to find true love. However, in this iteration, there is a slight departure from the original. Instead of a climactic conclusion where Ted finds his wife in the final season, "How I Met Your Father" suggests that the titular character is already in Sophie's friend group. With this in mind, there are many theories about who Sophie's future husband is, and fans have an opinion on who that should be.
Fans want Jesse to be Sophie's true love
Trying to find true love is never easy, especially in a city as big as New York. Even Sophie's friends who are in committed relationships have their ups and downs, making the hunt for a partner a daunting task. Sophie has struggled to find a partner, but like Ted before her, she is guaranteed to at least start a family with someone by the end of the series. It's never too early to start theorizing and u/notjustanerd on Reddit was interested in finding out who was the most likely candidate. In a poll of over 400 votes, Jesse (Christopher Lowell) was overwhelmingly decided to be the winner. Ian (Daniel Augustin) was the next closest but seems unlikely since he is not in Sophie's main friend group.
Jesse just makes sense as Sophie's other half. Both characters share a respect for love and have also been burned in the past. His previous relationship ended when he publicly proposed to his then-girlfriend Meredith (Leighton Meester) who swiftly dumped him. His attraction to Sophie and shared interest in finding a committed relationship make him a good choice for the father of her son. But since the series has been greenlit for Season 2 (via Decider), there are sure to be many twists and turns on the horizon and it should be a long while before fans find out.
