The Game Of Thrones Star You Likely Missed In Elden Ring

When "Elden Ring" came out on February 25, there was one question on players' minds: How difficult can a video game really be?

The answer has proven to be "Quite a bit," as plenty of people have had difficulty simply getting past the tutorial if streams on Twitch are any indication. While numerous people, from critics to casual gamers, have discussed the game's challenges at length, there's ample praise for it, too. Across publications, the video game has garnered numerous positive reviews, making it one of the best-reviewed games of the year and a shoo-in to at least be nominated for Game of the Year at the Game Awards.

With its open-world concept, there are ample opportunities to explore and check out everything the map has to offer, but there's more waiting for gamers than just monsters and castles. There are many characters to meet, as well, including one appropriately voiced by an actor from "Game of Thrones."

The actress who played Yara Greyjoy voices Lady Tanith

Gemma Whelan is an accomplished actress on both the stage and screen. She has a lengthy resume, particularly on the television side of things. In addition to appearing as Yara Greyjoy for 16 episodes of "Game of Thrones," she's also appeared in the likes of "The Crown," "Gentleman Jack," and "Killing Eve." Her most recent project to date is lending her voice to the character of Lady Tanith in "Elden Ring."

You encounter this character upon entering Volcano Manor. She'll ask you if you'd like to join the Volcano Manor family, to which you should say yes. Upon doing so, you'll receive the Drawing-Room Key, which provides access to the other dorms in the area, allowing you to pursue various side missions and obtain valuable items.

It isn't Whelan's first time doing voiceover work for video games. Her previous credits in that area include "Dragon Age: Inquisition," "Mass Effect: Andromeda," and "Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker." However, "Elden Ring" is arguably her highest-profile video game role to date, proving her massively adept at playing characters in the fantasy genre.
