Tiny Tina's Wonderlands: Why Lucky Dice Are So Important

Ask any "Dungeons & Dragons" player — or a player of almost any tabletop RPG — how dice are used in the game and most of the time the answer is that dice determine how well or poorly a player performs. Whether it's an attack on a zombie with a longsword or how well a player can lie through their teeth, "D&D" and other tabletop RPGs use dice to express how successful a player was at performing their action. While players will end up using more than the iconic 20-sided die, the D20 is recognizable for a reason. It's often the most rolled die regardless of abilities or weapons and that recognition has seen the item bleed over into other media types.

It's no surprise that these 20-sided harbingers of fate found their way into the new "Borderlands" spin-off, "Tiny Tina's Wonderlands." It's not just a cheeky D20 tucked away here and there as an Easter egg, either. Gearbox went all in, sprinkling these collectible "D&D" references throughout the entire title. All in all, players will want to keep their eyes peeled for any of the over 200 D20s hidden in "Tiny Tina's Wonderland." Finding them won't just tickle that "collect-everything" portion of the brain, but it'll also make it easier for players to find good loot. Here's why "Tiny Tina's Wonderlands" Lucky Dice are so important.

What Do Lucky Dice Do In Tiny Tina's Wonderlands?

Players may find that they've come across their first Lucky Dice entirely by accident — tucked away behind a gravestone or some other piece of scenery. Some Lucky Dice are hidden rather well, while others simply require players to be observant as they tear through the fun romp that is "Tiny Tina's Wonderlands." That said, unless players first start the title with some prior knowledge about where to look for these Lucky Dice, there's a good chance they'll leave some behind.

Lucky Dice are well worth the effort of finding because not only do they give players a chance for more loot, but they also permanently increase a player's chance at finding higher quality loot. That is to say, the number rolled when collecting the die related to the quality of loot players are about to receive for finding the collectible, while at the same time finding these Lucky Dice increases players' Loot Luck stat which, in turn, ensures better quality loot from all sources (per The Gamer).

All Fans Aren't Convinced Lucky Dice Make The Game Better

Once players took a little time to figure out how Lucky Dice worked in "Tiny Tina's Wonderlands," many felt convinced that these collectibles shouldn't be missed. Some players have even taken to social media in an attempt to warn other players not to miss any Lucky Dice if possible. One Twitter user posted, "I cannot stress this enough... When you jump into Tiny Tina's Wonderlands tonight, be sure to collect all the lucky dice that you can. The luck boosts they give are much needed for farming in this game." It's not that the game becomes unplayable without the shiny 20-sided collectibles, but if players want the best chance at finding the best items, it seems like a no-brainer.

That said, some users find it a tad frustrating that they'll have to complete a lot of busywork for the best shot at quality gear. A Twitter user commented on Lucky Dice in "Tiny Tina's Wonderlands," saying, "Not a big fan of how they are implemented. I like exploring for secrets, but the hunt for these is slowing my progression so much that it takes away from the flow of the game. Makes me want to ignore them till I'm done the campaign."

Thankfully, finding the Lucky Dice is optional, so those who don't want the slog of another collect-a-thon can still get the same gear and items, it just might take them much longer considering their unlucky status.
