The Killing Of A Sacred Deer Trailer Reveals Thriller With Colin Farrell And Nicole Kidman

Horror doesn't always have to include jump cuts and blatant scare tactics.

A24 released the first trailer for The Killing of a Sacred Deer, the new movie from Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster, Dogtooth), and it looks to be especially unnerving. Described as a "suburban Greek tragedy," it's a supernatural thriller with a cast that includes Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, and Alicia Silverstone.

The flick debuted at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and it will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival, where this synopsis comes from: "The strange relationship between a cardiac surgeon (Farrell) and a 16-year-old boy portends a terrifying sacrifice in this eagerly awaited supernatural thriller."

While deeper plot details are still hazy, the trailer features Raffey Cassidy (Tomorrowland) singing an eery cover of "Burn" by Ellie Goulding as we see kids begin to inexplicably collapse in buildings and hospitals. Meanwhile, Farrell says that a surgeon can never kill a patient, only an anesthesiologist can, which sounds a little creepy.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer will hit theaters everywhere on Oct. 27. Check out the poster below, then take a look at some underappreciated thrillers you need to watch on Netflix.
