Shay Mitchell Joins Lifetime Series You
Pretty Little Liars alum Shay Mitchell has set her sights on an all-new series.
Variety reports that Mitchell has penned an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group, the same company that produced Pretty Little Liars for the full length of its seven-season run, that sees Mitchell starring in the upcoming Lifetime series You.
Based on author Carolin Kepnes' best-selling novel of the same name, You follows a brilliant but obsessive man named Joe, a twenty-something who takes advantage of our tech-focused and connectivity-driven society to attract the attention of Beck, his so-called "dream woman," and make her fall in love with him. Gossip Girl alum Penn Badgley has been cast as Joe, and Once Upon a Time has joined to play Beck. Mitchell will play Peach Salinger, the "controlling queen bee" that dominates Beck's social circle, which is already filled with well-off and privileged friends like Peach herself.
Hailing from Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment, You also stars newcomer Luca Padovan and Spider-Man: Homecoming background actor Zach Cherry. Greg Berlanti, Sera Gamble, Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein, and Gina Girolamo are set to executive produce.
The outlet also reports that Mitchell has formed her very own production company, known as Amore & Vita Productions, Inc., which is tied in with the multi-year pod at Warner Bros. Television Group. Under the deal's terms of agreement, Mitchell and her producing partner David Dean Portelli are expected to create ideas for scripted and non-scripted television and television movies for broadcast, cable, digital platforms, and streaming services across the whole of Warner Bros. Television Group's collective off-shoots.
Mitchell's next appearance will be on the silver screen in Cadaver, a horror-thriller flick due out in theaters next year.
