As a spiritual successor to "Dark Souls," FromSoftware's "Elden Ring" shares a lot in common with the iconic action role-playing series that preceded it. For one, both series are extremely difficult and will surely frustrate players when it comes to the number of times they die — not to mention the unique ways that death can happen. Another similarity between the two properties is the use of talismans, accessories that grant players certain effects that boost specific skillsets and actions. Talismans are essentially this universe's version of the traditional power-up.
"Elden Ring" features a wide variety of talismans that your player can collect, all of which offer their own individual incentives and benefits that from boosts to a player's health points (HP) or attacks, all the way to defensive abilities and damage buffs. But what are the best of these Talisman boosts and how can players go about finding them in FromSoftware's sprawling open world?
Erdtree's Favour Talisman
Remember that part about dying a lot in "Elden Ring?" Unless you're the kind of wild-eyed gamer who doesn't mind being reset to a respawn point every few minutes or so, it's likely that you will take all necessary precautions to avoid falling prey to the bizarre enemies in The Lands Between. And in order to make that happen, you must not only watch how much damage you're sustaining from enemies, but also find ways to fortify your HP and give yourself as much leeway as possible to accommodate any mistakes. This is where the Erdtree's Favour Talisman comes in handy.
The Erdtree's Favour Talisman grants players raises the player's max HP, increases stamina, and also raises the player's Equip Load, which determines how well the protagonist moves with heavy armor and weaponry. At its peak level, the talisman gives and HP increase of 4%, a stamina increase of 9.5%, and an Equip Load increase of 8%. In order to find the Erdtree's Favour Talisman, the player must venture to West Limgrave and find it in the Fringefolk Hero's Grave dungeon, fighting past the bridge with two blobby (but deadly) Grafted Scions.
Lance Talisman
Whenever you aren't slaying nightmare fuel abominations or tagging a non-threatening animal as a "dog," a lot of your time in "Elden Ring" will be spent riding horseback throughout The Lands Between. And whenever you do not wish to directly engage an enemy — be it out of efficiency or just plain fear — the option of attacking while riding your horse is a viable option at your disposal. But if you wish to get the absolute most out of these attacks, then finding the Lance Talisman should be high on your to-do list.
The Lance Talisman will net the player a 15% increase in the damage inflicted while using attacks on horseback. And that boost doesn't only apply to your weapon — that applies to spells cast as well, as noted by YouTuber Moxsy. This might be one of the best ways of increasing your formidability in combat while traveling from point A to point B. Like the Erdtree's Favour Talisman, the Lance Talisman can also be found in West Limgrave, in a small corner underneath a bridge — just look for a giant buried set of armor.
Radagon's Soreseal
A very popular talisman among players is the Radagon's Soreseal Talisman. This beast of an accessory offers players +5 in all the following categories: vigor, endurance, strength, and dexterity. Additionally, it increases the damage you can take while also increasing your HP, and can give each of those attributes a big boost — in turn granting you access to more powerful and useful weapons. Redditor u/FreshSkull called the Radagon's Soreseal Talisman "one of the best, if not the best talisman in the game right now." Meanwhile, YouTuber Moxsy said that he had not taken the talisman off at any point since acquiring it.
Radagon's Soreseal Talisman can be found in Fort Faroth. The best way in will be to down from the opening in the roof. After that, the talisman is pretty easy to spot, and can be found on top of a corpse close to the wooden walkways.
Marika's Soreseal Talisman
Getting boosts to a very specific set of attributes and abilities is definitely a nice luxury afforded by the Talismans in "Elden Ring," but even better is finding a talisman that can boost a multitude of key abilities all at once. Such is the case with the Marika's Soreseal Talisman, which offers fortification to several different attributes. As such, this is the talisman that feels best-suited to the later parts of the game, when the going can get particularly tough.
Marika's Soreseal Talisman offers a massive boost that "raises mind, intelligence, faith, and arcane, but also increases damage taken by a similar measure." This particular talisman came greatly recommended by players on YouTube, including commenter Felis Impurrator. According to them, Marika's Soreseal is "the magic equivalent of Radagon's and a must have for casters," implying that those who specialize in the game's spell abilities will receive the most benefits from using it.
This talisman can be found on an altar in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. But in order to obtain it, one must have a Stonesword Key (which can be hard to come by).
Assassin's Crimson Dagger
Yes, most players would probably prefer stat boosts that are granted immediately upon equipping a talisman. But having a talisman that can incentivize smart and nicely-timed combat can not only provide an edge, but also change your gameplay for the better. A good example of such a thing is the Assassin's Crimson Dagger. This talisman restores an amount of a player's HP if they manage to inflict a critical hit upon an enemy. This will surely make you a lot more selective when making strikes against the more powerful enemy types in "Elden Ring."
