Here Are Your Free March 2022 PS Plus Games

Every month, PlayStation Plus offers its subscribers a collection of free games to play, in addition to access to online multiplayer, storage, special discounts, and more PS perks. This March, there are four titles slated for PlayStation Plus, each offering something a little different.

Fans interested in trying any of the March PlayStation Plus titles will have to invest $9.99 monthly or $59.99 yearly, which will grant them lifetime access to these games (as long as their subscription is active), plus whichever ones are released for PlayStation Plus next. Some pretty popular titles have made an appearance in past monthly lineups, including games like "Shadow of the Tomb Raider," "Persona 5 Strikers," and many more.

On top of its successful monthly subscription program, Sony has created more opportunities for players to access free games. In 2020, the company announced the PlayStation Plus Collection, which gives PlayStation Plus members on the PS5 access to over 15 titles year-round, in addition to the monthly free game perks.

As revealed by the official PlayStation Blog, here is what PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download for free starting March 1, 2022.

Ghostrunner

Described on the PlayStation blog as a "cyberpunk first-person adventure," "Ghostrunner" is a real hidden gem from 2020 that way too many people missed out on. Set in a wartorn, dystopian future, "Ghostrunner" puts players in the heart of an ongoing battle with high stakes. Just one hit means death, so to win, players need to lean on their "unique bond with technology" to climb up Dharma Tower, the only remaining safe haven for what life remains on the planet.

In "Ghostrunner," players must use a tactful combination of combat and parkour to reach victory. The game has a solid 78/100 score on Metacritic for PS5 specifically, with many citing the joys of its unique-yet-challenging gameplay.

Though "Ghostrunnner" is available for PS4 among other consoles, it'll only be free for PS5 players this March on PS Plus. Luckily those who have yet to secure a next-gen console, there are still plenty of other games to explore on PS Plus this March.

ARK: Survival Evolved

PS4 title "ARK: Survival Evolved" is a regular Steam sensation that is worth playing this March and beyond, especially since its sequel is currently in the works. The MMO survival sandbox puts the player in charge of their own destiny — and more importantly, an endless array of dinosaurs that can be enlisted for battle. Crafting, combat, and creature care are the name of the game. Players who enjoy sci-fi are especially likely to dive into "ARK: Survival Evolved" when it arrives on PS Plus. The game boasts a 69/100 score on Metacritic.

The upcoming release of "ARK 2" has the potential to change the series forever by placing an even deeper focus on plot, so players interested in hopping on the bandwagon would be wise to check out the original "ARK: Survival Evolved" while it's included in the PS Plus package. On top of that, "ARK: The Animated Series" is slated for a 2022 release, and the involvement of Vin Diesel in both the TV series and the upcoming sequel means the world of "ARK" is growing across entertainment genres. Now's the best time to get in on the action.

Team Sonic Racing

Speaking of franchises that extend beyond gaming, an unexpected "Sonic" game will be available this March with PS Plus. Though "Team Sonic Racing" released back in 2019 on PS4, fans of fast-paced multiplayer showdowns will find that the game still holds up in 2022. This arcade racer features a ton of familiar characters, not to mention cool cars and customization options that add some extra Sonic-themed charm. The gameplay itself should be appealing for fans of zany mascot-led racing games like "Mario Kart," and reviews for the game are pretty solid, racking up a 72/100 score on Metacritic.

And of course, now is the perfect time to get back into Sonic, since the famous blue hedgehog has a film sequel dropping in April and an open-world game currently in development. Arguably most accessible pick from this month's PS Plus offerings, "Team Sonic Racing" will offer a competitive and chill gameplay experience for multiple players, plus a healthy dose of familiarity for fans of the speedy blue icon.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends

Last but not least, the inclusion of "Ghost of Tsushima: Legends" in March 2022's PS Plus line-up is worth celebrating, as the standalone multiplayer mode is one of the best to come out of the PS4 era. Though fans of "Ghost of Tsushima" will have a leg up thanks to some combat functionality crossover, players new to the game will find its gameplay loop plenty addictive.

"Ghost of Tsushima: Legends" draws inspiration from Japanese history and offers players the option to pair up with a group of 2-4 friends or other players online. Multiple game modes are available in the PlayStation exclusive title, including Survival and 2v2 options. Players can pick a Samurai, Hunter, Assassin, or Ronin class for their fighter, creating a strategic dynamic that is interesting without being overwhelming.

The hardest thing for PlayStation Plus gamers this month will be choosing which game to start with — but from there, good times are guaranteed.
