Game Of Thrones Reveals Jorah's Letter To Daenerys And Greyscale Cure
Contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season 7, episode 2
If you're dying to know what Jorah Mormont wrote to Daenerys in the "Stormborn" episode of Game of Thrones, there's no need to freeze frame and digitally manipulate stills. HBO was kind enough to release a close-up shot of exactly what Jorah (Iain Glen) wrote.
As fans know by now, Jorah was inflicted with the the dreaded and fatal disease Greyscale after being bitten by one of the Stone Men in the ruins of Valyria back in season 5. When he told his beloved Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) about his infection, she commanded him to find a cure so that he could return to her. As we learned in season 7, Jorah traveled to the Citadel in hopes that the Maesters could help. However, one of the archmaesters (Jim Broadbent) told him that the disease had spread too far and suggested that he'd be better off taking his own life before it reached his brain.
As Jorah prepared to do just that, he penned this heart-wrenching letter to Daenerys.
But before Jorah could take drastic action, Samwell Tarly (who served under Jorah's father in the Night's Watch), decided to try a dangerous and forbidden remedy that he had found in the pages of an old book. Of course, the author of the cure ironically died of Greyscale himself.
HBO released a good look at what the instructions that Sam is working from, and they involve a "sharpened point," the green bark of elder twigs, and what appears to be olive oil. Check out the cure below, then check out our recap of the episode.
