Shawn And Gus Get Back In Shape In Psych: The Movie Trailer
It takes a lot to stay in crime fighting shape, as Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) learn in the first trailer for Psych: The Movie. The film will reunite Team Psych to take down their most dangerous opponent yet, Zachary Levi's Thin White Duke, who is out to destroy everything Shawn and Gus hold dear.
The Psych movie will reunite Shawn, Gus, and the rest of the gang after three years off the air, with the well-loved show having concluded its eight season run on USA in 2014. The holiday movie will see Shawn and Gus bringing their business back to Santa Barbara after a mysterious assailant targets one of the SBPD's own.
As the trailer shows, Shawn and Gus aren't exactly ready to just pick up their crime fighting ways again, with the pair going through a rigorous training program after Shawn lets Gus know about the movie. Things don't go well at first, as Shawn has heard it many ways and Gus wants to know if you've heard about Neptune, but eventually they get back into tip-top Psych shape. (And yes, there are pineapples.)
In addition to Roday and Hill, Maggie Lawson, Corbin Bernsen, Kirsten Nelson, Ralph Maccio, and Jimmi Simpson (whose character, Mary Lightly, died in the season four finale of the original show) are set to return. Timothy Omundsun will also return, although he will have a limited role as the actor suffered a stroke shortly before production. Ballers' Jazmyn Simon joins the cast as a new love interest for Gus. Cary Elwes, who had previously been announced as part of the cast for the film, actually will not appear due to scheduling issues.
The movie, which is co-written by show creator Steve Franks and Roday, will premiere on USA this December. While we wait, read up on the untold truth of Psych.
