Light Meets Ryuk In New Death Note Clip

Put yourself in this situation: a huge, demonic creature hands you a notebook and tells you that you can kill anyone you want just by scribbling his or her name in a notebook. Would you use it for good? Or is that even really possible?

Netflix revealed a new clip from the upcoming adaptation of the manga Death Note, and it gives us our longest look yet at Ryuk (voiced by Willem Dafoe). In the scene, the god of death nudges Seattle high schooler Light (Nat Wolff) to put the mystical notebook to use by taking out a bully harassing a girl. But Light doesn't just get to choose who should die. He also gets to specify how they die. And in this case, it doesn't take him long to come up with a method: decapitation.

Adam Wingard (You're Next, Blair Witch) directs the Netflix Original movie, which also stars Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers) and LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out). You'll be able to stream it Aug. 25. Meanwhile, check out some anime you didn't realize are getting live-action remakes
