Every Gen 3 Pokemon Missing From Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Fans now have their hands on "Pokemon Legends Arceus," running through its open regions, throwing Pokeballs at any creature that dares approach them — all while completing the original Pokedex, which involves completing a series of tasks related to every Pokemon in the game. During this time, it's become clear that while "Pokemon Legends Arceus" is a breath of fresh air for the series, it is missing a ton of iconic Pocket Monsters. Even as players arrive at the end of the game, they have noticed that many of the Gen 3 Pokemon they love are missing.

The open-world of "Pokemon Legends Arceus" contains many Easter eggs referencing other titles in the series, but the actual number of Pokemon it has from across the series is pretty limited. Due to it being set in the Hisui region (the feudal version of Sinnoh) the entire Gen 4 Pokedex is in the game. Beyond that is a smattering of Pokemon from other games, some of which can be seen as Alpha Pokemon. Here is every Gen 3 Pokemon missing from "Pokemon Legends Arceus."

No Gen 3 starting Pokemon

Every time a new generation of "Pokemon" is announced, the first thing everyone wants to know is what the three starters look like. Players will likely spend the whole game with at least one of them, so the starting Pokemon from each installment become a bit iconic just from player exposure. Unfortunately, the three starting Pokemon — Mudkip, Torchic, and Treecko — along with their evolutions, are not in "Pokemon Legends Arceus." While including every single starter from each "Pokemon" game would probably feel like fan service, it makes sense to include the most popular Pokemon from each generation.

Of course, Nintendo might want to save those starters for future "Pokemon Legends" titles. Since "Pokemon Legends Arceus" used three starters from three different generations, it's possible that Game Freak wants to do that again. Of course, despite the success of the game, there's no plans for another entry in the "Legends" canon — yet.

No Gen 3 legendary Pokemon

Similar to the legendary Pokemon from Gen 1 and from Gen 2, there are no Gen 3 Legendary Pokemon in "Pokemon Legends Arceus." In fact, there aren't any legendary Pokemon outside of Gen 4 present in "Pokemon Legends Arceus." In past Pokemon games, the older legendary Pokemon wouldn't be available to catch in each game, but they could be traded or imported from older titles. "Pokemon Legends Arceus" has trading functionality, but since it's the first game in the series, there is no way to get any of the older legendary Pokemon.

This means that Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Latias, Latios, Jirachi, and Deoxys, are all not available in "Pokemon Legends Arceus." Right now, Alpha Pokemon are about as close to a Legendary as one can get, aside from the actual Legendaries in "Pokemon Legends: Arceus," of course. While it would be cool to see the legendaries do in full 3D rendering, there are plenty of other beloved Pokemon missing from the lineup as well.

Every other missing Gen 3 Pokemon

The missing starting Pokemon and legendary Pokemon is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Gen 3. There are 96 other Gen 3 Pokemon that did not make the cut for "Pokemon Legends Arceus" meaning that the majority of Gen 3 Pokemon did not make it. Here is every other missing Gen 3 Pokemon.
