Taraji P. Henson Is An Assassin In Proud Mary Trailer
Taraji P. Henson is ruthless in the first trailer for her upcoming thriller Proud Mary. In the film, Henson plays Mary, a hit woman working for an organized crime family in Boston. When she meets a young boy during a hit gone bad, her life changes forever.
As the trailer shows, Henson takes perfectly to the persona of the badass Mary, with the Empire actress kicking off the footage with a montage of her daily routine set to the film's eponymous song. As the trailer quickly shows, though, Mary's days won't be spent rolling down any rivers, as her apartment is fully stocked with a closet full of dozens of guns she needs for her work.
Mary grabs a few of the weapons before headed out to her day at work, which involves racing around the city, a number of different wigs, and some killer heels. The trailer doesn't reveal much about the film's plot, but it is full of explosions, high action, and lots of red wine, something which, coupled with Henson's attachment, should spell for a great film.
Babak Najafi (London Has Fallen) directs Proud Mary based on a script from Steve Antin (Burlesque), John Stuart Newman (Dirty Work), and Christian Swegal (Stasis). Neal McDonough, Danny Glover, Xander Berkeley, Billy Brown, Margaret Avery, and Jahi Di'Allo Winston also star in the film, which is set for a Jan. 12, 2018 release; while we wait, see all of the other movies that will blow you away that year.
