Shadows House Season 2 Release Date, Characters And Plot - What We Know So Far

The first season of the spooky mystery anime "Shadows House" enthralled viewers with its macabre aesthetic, intriguing premise, and impressive balancing act of being decently creepy without falling into outright horror. Set in the titular Shadows House, a mysterious isolated mansion, the series focuses on a community of faceless shadow people and their living doll counterparts who serve as cleaners for the house. The show focuses primarily on the duo of the shadow girl Kate Mirror and her living doll Emilico as they begin uncovering the disturbing secrets of the house and its inhabitants.

Ever since the first season wrapped up in July of 2021, fans have been eagerly waiting to find out when Season 2 of the show will release and how it will push the story forward. Fortunately, early details shared by Funimation suggest that the second season will be checking all the right boxes for those who loved the show's initial outing.

What is the release date for Season 2 of Shadows House?

Fans will be happy to hear that the second season of "Shadows House" has a solid release window. According to Funimation's official announcement, Season 2 of the series is set to debut in Summer of 2022, a little over a year from when the first season began. Unfortunately, there is currently no exact release date set for when the second season will premiere during the summer.

Fans should also remember to be wary of any suggested release dates — official or not — until they are relatively imminent, as the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic has been responsible for numerous delays in production for shows and movies across all territories. However, provided that production for Season 2 of the show has been proceeding smoothly, it appears for now that the wait to return to the mysterious Shadows House mansion will not be too long.

Who is in the main cast of Season 2 of Shadows House?

All of the main characters and their respective voice actors from the first season of "Shadows House" are set to return for Season 2. That list includes Akari Kitō as the reserved but goodhearted shadow girl Kate Mirror, Yū Sasahara as Kate's cheery living doll Emilico, Kōdai Sakai as the energetic shadow boy John and his loyal living doll counterpart Shaun, Ayane Sakura as the narcissistic shadow girl Louise and her shy living doll Lou, Shino Shimoji as the equally silent shadow girl Shirley and living doll Rum, Reiji Kawashima as the equally arrogant shadow boy Patrick and living doll Ricky, and Wataru Hatano as the villainous shadow man Edward.

"Shadows House" also holds the distinction of being in the pool of anime that actually have a solid English dub. Fortunately, all actors for the English dub of the show are expected to make their return, such as Emi Lo as Kate and Dani Chambers as Emilico. Other supporting characters and their respective voice actors are also expected to make a return for both the original Japanese dub and the English dub.

What is the plot of Season 2 of Shadows House?

Season 2 of "Shadows House" is expected to pick up from where the first season left off. The last time fans saw them on the show, Kate, Emilico, and their friends had uncovered some dark truths about the nature of the titular Shadows House and the relationship between the shadow people and living dolls. Viewers learned that the living dolls weren't dolls at all, but actual human children taken from a nearby village and brainwashed into becoming servants for the shadow people.

It appears that Season 2 will see Kate continue her quest to discover the dark history of the mansion, free the living dolls from their captivity, and undo Emilico's brainwashing. But it seems the journey is only going to get more difficult, as Edward has made a vow to destroy Kate and her friends at all costs for threatening the power hierarchy of the mansion. These two forces will almost certainly come to blows during Season 2. It also appears from the official promotional image in the Funimation press release that some other mysterious characters affiliated with the Shadows House may be making an appearance, but as with some other highly anticipated anime at the moment, fans will simply have to wait until the season actually premieres to find out more.
