Jurassic Park's Lex Confirms What We Suspected All Along About Jeff Goldblum's On-Set Behavior

While there are more than a few highly-recognizable actors currently working in Hollywood, there's perhaps none as oddly noteworthy as Jeff Goldblum. Overall, the films that Goldblum has appeared in have seen a lot of financial success, grossing well over $6 billion at the worldwide box office (per The Numbers). He's also been the subject of various memes and has been described more than once as an eccentric (via VMan), and this has been noted to bleed into his performances on the big screen.

While Goldblum has had many high-profile films, most fans probably recognize him immediately for his portrayal as Dr. Ian Malcolm in the "Jurassic Park" movies. Given how endearingly odd and eccentric Goldblum seems to be in real life, it's easy to wonder how the actor behaves on the set of his movies. Well, luckily enough, Ariana Richards, who played Lex in the first "Jurassic Park" film, confirmed exactly how Goldblum acts on set, and it's pretty much what all of us suspected all along.

Jeff Goldblum enjoyed loudly reading his script between scenes

During a sit-down with Interview Magazine in 2011, Ariana Richards revealed that Jeff Goldblum had a very interesting and unique method for practicing his lines between scenes on the set of "Jurassic Park." "I was struck by the fact that he wasn't studying it like most people I'd been around that were actors, who'd study quietly [and] kind of unobtrusively," Richards said. "He was speed-reading them out loud!"

While this is obviously a story from the set of a movie that was released all the way back in 1993, it's definitely a testament to just how odd Goldblum's acting methods can apparently be. Given that it's led to performances that still stick in the minds of audiences years later, it's seemingly a method that has worked out quite well for the actor. Either way, it's fun for fans to get a peek behind the curtain into what exactly goes into the crafting of a pivotal Goldblum performance.
