John Cena Is A Bull With A Big Heart In Ferdinand Trailer

John Cena is not a fighting bull in the new trailer for the upcoming animated movie Ferdinand. The movie features Cena as the title character, a bull captured by a bullfighter who insists that he isn't meant for the ring.

"People think they got you all figured out based on how you look," Ferdinand says at the start of the trailer. "But it's not that simple, especially when it comes to me. I'm a little more complex." Ferdinand's complexity is explained by the way he was raised, with the bull reared to be a gentle giant in the hands of a young girl.

Ferdinand describes his life as "perfect," but it's turned upside down when he accidentally sits on a bee at the marketplace, causing him to go berserk and get captured by animal control. In his new home, he meets three hedgehogs, Una, Dos, and Quatro (they don't talk about Tres), and an old goat named Lupe, and together, they begin to hatch a plan to escape. "I'm getting out of this place and I'm not leaving anyone behind," Ferdinand says.

Kate McKinnon, Gabriel Iglesias, Gina Rodriguez, Daveed Diggs, David Tennant, Anthony Anderson, Boris Kodjoe, MIguel Angel Silvestre, Raul Esparza, Jerrod Carmichael, Bobby Cannavale, Sally Phillips, Flula Borg, and Karla Martinez also star in Ferdinand, which was directed by Ice Age's Carlos Saldanha. The movie is due out on Dec. 15; while we wait, mark your calendars with all of the other movies that will blow you away this year.
