Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Has A Post-Credits Scene

You should stick around for the credits after Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales– the movie has a post-credits scene, and it's pretty important to the future of the franchise.

If you want to go into the credits of Pirates 5 unspoiled, here is where you should probably walk the plank on this story. For those who have already seen the movie, though, or those who just want to know what they're getting into beforehand, here's exactly what the post-credits scene means.

The scene begins with Orlando Bloom's Will Turner and Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swan reunited. The pair is sleeping blissfully when Will wakes up to see a tentacle reaching for him– a tentacle that looks eerily similar to that of Bill Nighy's Davy Jones. Will wakes up and realizes it was just a dream, but then he finds a pile of water and barnacles next to his bed, hinting that the seafarer may have actually been in his room.

Nighy appeared as Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, but his character was killed off by Will at the end of the third movie, turning Will into the cursed captain. Considering the events that transpired over the course of Dead Men Tell No Tales (which we'll keep vague, for the spoiler averse among ye), it is possible that Davy Jones could have in some way been resurrected, although we'll probably have to wait util a potential sixth Pirates film to know for sure. (Davy Jones' return would also likely mean a much bigger role for Will and Elizabeth in a potential sixth movie, which many viewers should be excited to hear.)

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is in theaters now. If you've already sailed out to see the movie, check out some of the biggest Easter eggs you may have missed.
