Is There A New Episode Of Saturday Night Live Tonight? (December 18, 2021)

Now in Season 47, "Saturday Night Live" is still trucking as it delivers new sketches to us practically every week full of wild characters embodied by a talented cast of series regulars. Add to this a fun rotating line-up of hosts and an equally delightful roster of musical guests, and you have the ingredients for one very watchable season. The current cast includes Michael Che, Pete Davidson, Colin Jost, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, and Aidy Bryant. The last episode, which aired on December 11, saw Emmy-winning cast regular Kate McKinnon return after a long absence.

The December 11 episode featured Grammy winner Billie Eilish as host and musical performer. The singer earned an interesting spot in "SNL" history with her hosting gig, becoming the first host born in the 21st century (via Entertainment Weekly). Eilish performed her songs "Happier Than Ever" and "Male Fantasy," pulled from her latest album, which is also titled "Happier Than Ever." Miley Cyrus also made a surprise appearance as herself, and one of the comedy sketches even earned the ire of sitting United States Representative (via Yahoo Sports).

This week, the question on every fan's mind is: Will a new episode of "Saturday Night Live" air tonight?

There is a new episode of Saturday Night Live on December 18

Luckily for fans, there is a brand new episode of "Saturday Night Live" airing on NBC on Saturday, December 18. Paul Rudd will be the host this weekend, while Charli XCX will be the musical performer. The actor and the singer appeared in a promo where they had some fun teasing what's coming in the new episode (via YouTube). In addition to the Apple TV+ limited series "The Shrink Next Door," Rudd recently starred in "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," so there is a good chance that we will probably see a sketch based on those exploits.

Rudd's appearance on this week's "SNL" will mark the fifth time as host, and it will be the second time as the musical act for Charli XCX (via Deadline). Charli XCX is best known for her songs "Boom Clap," "I Love It," and "Break the Rules." The famous singer-songwriter has also assisted the likes of Camila Cabello with her song "Senorita," as well as Selena Gomez's "Same Old Love." Her next album, "Crash," is out on March 2022.

"Saturday Night Live" airs at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. New episodes are available on Hulu and Peacock after their original air date.
