The Jedi That Boba Fett Almost Killed In Revenge Of The Sith
Boba Fett may have had the biggest glow-up of any "Star Wars" character. He quickly became a fan-favorite, first appearing in the much-maligned "Star Wars Holiday Special." Then he was eaten in his second big-screen outing, but just when it seemed like Boba Fett's story was over, he was given an expanded backstory in the prequels. In "Attack of the Clones," we learn that Boba was the only non-modified clone of the Mandalorian Jango Fett. He raised Boba Fett like a son until the Jedi Mace Windu killed him at Geonosis.
Then, in "The Mandalorian," Boba Fett was finally given a reprieve from the Sarlacc pit. Fanon had long ago decided that Boba Fett was too cool to be killed by, essentially, a big hole. So it was a relief to see the bounty hunter alive and undigested on the Disney+ series. But if George Lucas had gone through with an early concept for "Revenge of the Sith," Boba Fett's life could have been that much cooler.
Boba Fett almost took his revenge on Mace Windu
According to CBR, Boba Fett and Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) almost had a final showdown — one that would not have gone down in the Jedi's favor. As it was finally shot, Windu got yeeted out a window by Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) in the final stages of his coup. But storyboards exist on Reddit that show a climactic showdown between the bounty hunter and the Jedi who killed his father.
Boba Fett's arc in "The Clone Wars" figures somewhat on his quest for revenge against Windu. It's a shame that Boba Fett never got the catharsis he needed, as fathers and parentage are a major theme of "Star Wars." Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) being Luke's (Mark Hamill) father rather than the man who killed his father was the twist to end all twists. Rey's (Daisy Ridley) parentage became a major plot point of the Disney trilogy, as well as Ben Solo's (Adam Driver) attempts to reconcile himself to his Skywalker/Vader lineage. And of course, none of this would have happened if the fatherless Anakin (Hayden Christensen) had been able to save his mother on Tatooine.
But don't despair Boba Fett fans. Since Windu's body was never seen at the end of "Revenge of the Sith," it's possible he could make a return to the franchise. Fett also seemed to die at the end of the original series, and he's getting his own show now. It's possible Samuel L. Jackson's purple lightsaber-wielding Jedi could appear on "The Book of Boba Fett."
