The Reality Show You Should Watch Based On Your Zodiac Sign

Between all the networks, cable TV, streaming platforms and other entertainment venues, there seems to be a new unique show every few months. Some are wholly unique, others feel like a copy of a facsimile wrapped in a clone, sprinkled with a hearty dose of deja vu.

Whether you're in it for the drama, the love stories, or the laughs — the dancing, the singing, or the obstacle courses — there is a reality show out there for everybody. Given the surge of new content we received in 2020, it can be daunting to try to compile everything into a watch list.

Ultimately, could which shows you prefer be based on ... when you were born? Believers in astrology claim that we each have characteristics bestowed upon us when we enter life, assigning the 12 signs of the zodiac to these traits. So, let's put this theory to the test — if you were born in early August, do you prefer your reality to be filled with drama? If your birthday falls in late November, do you crave shows where people compete in popularity contests? Read on to see which shows your sign supposedly has a proclivity towards, and then decide for yourself whether your zodiac sign keeps it real.

Aries: The Challenge

Airing on Paramount+, "The Challenge" is a show in which competitors face "grueling physical and mental challenges for their share of $1 million in prize money." It originally featured contestants previously on other MTV reality shows, but soon expanded to additional networks as well. As MTV's longest-running series with 37 seasons, "The Challenge" has made a name for itself as one of the most competitive and strategic games on TV, with themes and twists that vary with every season.

The Aries zodiac sign is known for its inherent competitive nature and need to be the absolute best in the room. This fire sign is ambitious, passionate, bold, and courageous. "The Challenge" requires contestants to compete not only with physical strength, but with mental, social, and emotional strength as well. Challenges range from eating live bugs, to dangling from 600 feet in the air, to brutal one-on-one take downs. It is essential to have a strong political game when it comes to this show, as each week sees contestants voting someone into elimination. Coinciding with this, Aries are known for being multi-faceted, marching bravely into the unknown. They are very self-determined and live by the idea of every man for themselves, much like the mindset of most challengers on this competition show.

Taurus: Queer Eye

Tauruses are known to enjoy indulging in the finer things and soaking up the pleasures that life has to offer, which is similar to the premise of "Queer Eye." This heartwarming show blends together fashion, interior design, and food to help average people go from surviving to thriving. Netflix describes "Queer Eye" as serving up "hip tips, emotionally charged makeovers and heartfelt reveals that bring out all the feels."

Taurus is ruled by Venus, which governs love, beauty, and money, so it should come as no surprise that this Earth sign would find comfort within the members of the "Fab Five." At its core, "Queer Eye" believes that thing all humans really want in life is to be loved. Some words that have been used to describe a Taurus are dependable, resilient, and consistent. However, some people consider their stubbornness to be a weakness, a recurring theme of the subjects of each episode in this wholesome makeover series.

Gemini: Big Brother

"Big Brother" is a competitive reality show on CBS focused on a group of contestants, known as "houseguests," all living under the same roof — one decked out with hidden cameras throughout the home, recording their every move. They participate in challenges and are required to vote to evict someone from the house every week. What sets this series apart from other reality shows is the live feeds, which are essentially live streams accessible to viewers at any time of the day, giving them the opportunity to check up on their favorite contestants.

Audiences can agree that "Big Brother" is fundamentally a social and strategic game. A Gemini's ability to be friendly, adaptable, and dynamic would prove extremely helpful in the "Big Brother" house. Their outgoing demeanor is what attracts so many people to their circle. Much like the houseguests of "Big Brother," Geminis place great value in communication and prefer to have a hand in multiple pursuits at once.

Cancer: The Bachelor

It is seemingly impossible to discuss reality TV without acknowledging one of the most popular, perhaps infamous, franchises to ever be birthed by the genre. Unless you've spent the last few decades under a boulder, you know that The Bachelor (and "The Bachelorette") are a series of shows that focus on an eligible suitor, having them date multiple people at once in the hopes of ultimately getting engaged at the end of the journey.

Both series feature over-the-top romantic dates in group settings as well as one-on-one, with contestants either getting eliminated or receiving a rose of continuation each week. "The Bachelor" is often an emotional show, one often focused on people's deepest traumas and their quest to fall in love. Such qualities coincide with a Cancer's predisposition towards emotional exploration.

A Cancer sign tends to be sensitive and in tune with their emotions. They display an immense level of sympathy and emotional depth, happily assuming the role of caregiver whenever they can. Much like the majority of contestants that go on "The Bachelor," Cancers prioritize their family and loved ones, while being domestically-driven homebodies. In order to thrive in this series, one must have the ability to "play the field," splitting their attention across many different people at once. Cancers would thrive in such an environment, as they are known to be a very versatile zodiac sign.

Leo: America's Next Top Model

You wanna be on top? Well, a Leo sure does. This longtime staple of reality TV needs no explanation, but just in case you never binged these reruns on VH1 in the 2000s like everyone else, this one's for you. Hulu describes "America's Next Top Model" as a show that follows aspiring models who "compete to prove that they can make it in the high-stress, high-stakes world of modeling." Over 22 seasons, the series has followed young women on their journey to success and a possible contract with cosmetics giant Covergirl. Due to its resurgence in the era of streaming platforms, "ANTM" has been the subject of many memes and criticisms, but also huge viewership.

Leos are known to crave the spotlight and relish in being the center of attention. These fire signs are dramatic, passionate, and theatrical. Often interpreted as self-absorbed, Leos are represented by the lion, going hand and hand with their natural desire to be a leader in every venture. They are inclined to cultivate relationships that are creatively motivated. Whereas the prime objective of "ANTM" is purely becoming famous, a Leo would feel right at home hanging out with Tyra Banks.

Virgo: Tidying Up with Marie Kondo

Virgos are considered hardworking, precise, and organized. They are detail-oriented perfectionists who hold themselves to an entirely different standard than others. They tend to zero in on the smallest details with an extremely methodical approach to order. "Tidying Up with Marie Kondo" has grown to be synonymous with that same aesthetic of organization. The show focuses on Marie Kondo, a world-renowned organizing consultant who shares the wisdom of her own signature KonMari Method of organization to help other people declutter their lives.

The KonMari Method encourages people to keep only the essentials and the items that speak to the heart. Whether they are decluttering a kid's playroom or revamping a tiny studio apartment, Virgos will find comfort in this no-nonsense system that celebrates precision and attention to detail. This isn't to say that Virgos can't have messy lives — but more likely than other astrology signs, such clutter irks them.

Libra: Love Island

"Love Island" is a reality dating show that originally premiered in UK and has since reached international heights with Love Island USA, Australia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, and Poland. The show follows a group of attractive people living in a house together with the simple objective of staying coupled up until the end for a chance to win prize money. There are low-stakes daily challenges that give viewers a chance to get to know each contestant's dirty secrets, as well as unique romantic dates and the opportunity for live viewers to vote on outcomes.

Libra signs are known for their desire for companionship. This air sign considers partnership to be vital in having a happy life and they enjoy surrounding themselves with a lot of friends. Represented by the scales of justice, Libras have a knack for having a balanced view of all sides. It has been said that the best way to take advantage of "Love Island" is by dating around and getting to know all of your possible options. A Libra would identify with this method of dating, putting their outgoing attitude to good use.

Scorpio: The Real Housewives

"The Real Housewives" franchise has extended its grasp to countless different cities and countries around the world, such as: Orange County, New York, Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Miami, Sydney, and Toronto to name a few. Each series focuses on the extravagant lives and social dynamics of a rotating group of women in each particular city. The housewives tend to be wealthy, complex, well-connected — and possessing an intrinsic need to throw drinks in each others' faces. In a 2021 piece, People compiled a list of every housewife that has been arrested throughout the franchise run thus far.

The Scorpio zodiac is represented by the scorpion, with its distinctive venomous sting. Scorpio is often misinterpreted as a fire sign due to their intense drive and power. This water sign is calculating, dynamic, and mysterious, waiting for just the right time to strike. Scorpios are considered to be one of the most emotional signs of the zodiac, similar to the amplified emotions of the housewives. Much like their astrological counterpart, the housewives are fueled by a relentless quest for power and influence.

Sagittarius: The Circle

As the most outgoing sign in the zodiac, Sagittarius most closely relates to "The Circle." A social experiment and competition that fuses status and strategy, "The Circle" features a group of players moving into apartments within the same building. Although they are isolated from the world and each other, they are competing to become the most "popular" contestant, communicating exclusively through a social media app called "The Circle." Contestants can compete as themselves, or catfish as someone else, to ultimately earn prize money and the title of influencer.

A Sagittarius is known for its cheerful disposition and constant quest for knowledge and adventure. This fire sign can light up any room they walk into with their great sense of humor and open-minded outlook. A Sagittarius would flourish in an environment with the prime objective being to become the most popular person around. Their go-with-the-flow attitude would make them an easy front-runner in this social experiment.

Capricorn: Survivor

Whether or not you have ever found yourself absorbed in a season of "Survivor," you know the drill; this long-running competition show has become a staple in pop culture. Following a group of contestants termed the "castaways," who are secluded at a deserted location,  we watch as they search for food, water, fire and shelter, while also competing in challenges for game advantages. The ultimate goal is to avoid being voted off long enough to become the "Sole Survivor."

Capricorns are described as productive, goal-oriented, disciplined, and driven. This earth sign is renowned in their ability to adhere to guidelines and lead fresh initiatives. They possess a high level of inner fortitude and use it to display a sense of resilience in difficult situations. They are considered the hardest workers in the entire zodiac, and are always pursuing ways to get ahead of the competition. A Capricorn's natural inability to give up would prove extremely beneficial on a show like "Survivor."

Aquarius: Keeping up with the Kardashians

"Keeping up with the Kardashians" provides a glimpse into the extravagant exploits of the Kardashian-Jenner empire. Throughout its 20-season run, "KUWTK" has cemented itself as one of the most prolific reality shows in the history of the genre. With a family so heavily engrained in the public eye, audiences watch the show to relive some of the most dramatic pop culture moments of the last couple decades, often from a completely different perspective.

Aquarius signs have made a name for themselves in being creative, eccentric trend-setters. These innovative earth signs are known by many as the big thinkers of the zodiac, focusing their passion toward business-related ventures. As viewers (and honestly, anybody with a cell phone) have come to know the Kar-Jenners, they are constantly producing fresh business ideas that are almost guaranteed to be lucrative. This ambitious, materialistic sign is relentless in its search for success, much like millionaire momager, Kris Jenner.

Pisces: Love is Blind

While most reality dating shows feature contestants that don't take the process seriously and view the opportunity as a quick trip to stardom, "Love is Blind" exhibits a more evolved model. The series follows individuals in their search for love, following a speed-dating format with one catch: you can't see each other.

This forces participants to get to truly know one another before deciding whether or not to get engaged strictly based off personality. However, this show takes it a step further, with camera crews following these newly engaged couples as they then try to navigate living together. The show reaches its destination at each of the couple's respective wedding ceremonies, with each of them deciding on the spot whether or not to go through with it.

A Pisces tends to be compassionate, romantic, and sensitive. They absorb every lesson life has to offer, in order to form an educated view of the world around them. The ensuing predisposition to sensitivity often leads a Pisces to make overly-emotional decisions, however. This water sign will do just about anything to ensure the happiness of its loved ones, and would see immense value in an authentic, substance-based courting process like "Love is Blind."
