Titans Season 4 - Everything You Need To Know

This article contains spoilers for the first three seasons of "Titans"

What happens when teenagers with extraordinary abilities grow up with the weight of the world on their shoulders? The answer is that they wind up pretty messed up, as is evidenced by the latest superhero TV show to take fans by storm — "Titans." The show's characters all have their demons, which sometimes puts them at odds with one another, but they've managed to come together as a single unit to take down a plethora of bad guys throughout the three seasons the show has had so far.

The kids in question certainly haven't had time to slouch, seeing as how they've already gone against Trigon (Seamus Dever), Deathstroke (Esai Morales), and Scarecrow (Vincent Kartheiser). As much as these teens would probably like to kick back and relax for a bit, too, we have a feeling they'll be back on their feet in no time. Warner Bros. announced at the 2021 DC FanDome event that the show would return for a fourth season, so what's in store for the series' titular Titans next? Here's what we know so far about Season 4.

When will Titans Season 4 be released?

With the fourth season split in two, the first episode of "Titans" Season 4 hit HBO Max on November 3, giving us plenty of superhero action before the first bunch of episodes wrapped up in December. Now, the show is taking a mid-season break, with six more episodes following sometime in 2023.

In January 2023, it was announced that both "Titans" and "Doom Patrol" had been canceled, essentially ending the previous world of DCU television associated with producer Greg Bertlanti (this also included the Arrowverse). In response to the news, "Titans" showrunner said (via Collider), "I'm immensely proud of our gifted cast, crew, and writing staff and their efforts in bringing to life all 49 episodes over the last five plus years."

Now, we know that the final batch of episodes will hit HBO Max on April 13, 2023.

What's the plot of Titans Season 4?

After the first batch of episodes, it seems like the Titans will have to go up against Joseph Morgan's new villain, Brother Blood, as the series comes to a close. In the mid-season finale, Gar (Ryan Potter) started experiencing visions that led him directly to Brother Blood... which led the rest of the team to vanish into thin air.

Morgan previously tweeted about what fans could expect of his character going into the new season. "After this past week of shooting #DCTitans I'm convinced you guys are gonna really appreciate the journey Sebastian goes on. It's absolutely your cup of tea. Dark. Damaged. Emotional. Vulnerable. And vengeful. So very vengeful," the actor wrote. Vengeance has always been the name of the game on "Titans" and it seems like Brother Blood might take things to a whole new level.

Who is starring in Titans Season 4?

You should expect all of your favorite pint-sized superheroes to return for "Titans" Season 4. The show's Season 3 finale saw what remains of the Titans hopping aboard a bus to return to the Bay Area, so we know we'll see more of Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), Starfire (Anna Diop), Raven (Teagan Croft), Beast Boy (Ryan Potter), and Superboy (Joshua Orpin). Meanwhile, the newest face in the Titans crew is Tim Drake (Jay Lycurgo), who's skipping the whole "Batman sidekick" aspect of being Robin and heading off straight into a team of his very own.

Other heroes, such as Dove (Minka Kelly) and Jason Todd (Curran Walters), will likely make appearances at some point. But based on the last episode of the show's third season, it doesn't seem like they'll play integral roles going into its fourth.

Additionally, Deadline announced some intriguing new additions to the cast of "Titans" Season 4 in January, and we now have confirmation of who some of the season's antagonists will be. Joseph Morgan will play Brother Blood, a common Teen Titans foe from the comics who's the sadistic headmaster of the H.I.V.E. Academy, while Franka Potente will star as Mother Mayhem, another alliterative antagonist who's part of the Church of Blood. Finally, Lisa Ambalavanar will portray Jinx, a magic user who's caused the Titans all kinds of trouble in both the comics and the animated series on Cartoon Network.

Who is the showrunner of Titans Season 4?

Greg Walker has been the showrunner and executive producer on "Titans" since the beginning. Walker caught up with The Cosmic Circus during 2022's New York Comic-Con and teased what's to come in Season 4. "Season three, we took a big swing and went into the Bat-family and we went to Gotham and we, you know, exercised a lot of demons there. And then so we figured season four, let's go on the road again, with a detour in Metropolis where instead of pursuing Demons, demons find us," he told the outlet.

Another interviewer asked Walker about how would the color scheme of the show change, as it's common for them to do as "Titans" jumps from year to year. "It's a good question because it really allows me to talk about one of the things I'm most excited about, is we make a real turn into horror this year, a real choice to go into darkness, and horror, supernatural," Walker said.

As with former seasons of "Titans," the episodes will be helmed by different directors. Eric Dean Seaton, Nicholas Copus, and Jon Cassar are just some of the names attached to the new seasons. More will be known about who directed what when the episodes air.

Is there a trailer for Titans Season 4?

A two-minute trailer dropped at the end of March in advance of the final run of episodes, and it looks like "Titans" fans are in for a thrilling conclusion.

After the Titans vanish, several of them wake up in totally different places where they apparently live now, like mundane suburban homes, including Anna Diop's Koriand'r (or Kory Anders, or Starfire). Apparently, the Titans are spread throughout multiple dimensions, and in one of them, Conner Kent (Joshua Orpin) is causing some real trouble. Meanwhile, Teagan Croft's Rachel Roth is basically serving as a human blood bank, and as she notes, she doesn't have much time left.

The final batch of episodes of "Titans" definitely holds plenty of surprises, and fans will definitely be thrilled to see their favorite series come to a close when they drop on HBOMax.

What will Titans Season 4 be rated?

"Titans" Season 4 will follow suit of the previous three, with each episode being rated TV-MA. This rating means the series is intended for mature audiences and is not suitable for children. Former seasons have included strong language and nudity, and Season 4 is expected to deliver the same amount of mature content.

Given the introduction of a cult in Season 4 of "Titans," we're assuming the TV-MA rating is going to be more appropriate than ever. As the trailer was filled with a bubbling pool of blood, we'd say the mature warning is right on par.
