New Kingsman Teaser Introduces The Statesmen

The Kingsmen are headed to Kentucky in the upcoming The Golden Circle, so it makes sense that the movie would have a marketing field day with this weekend's Kentucky Derby. Star Jeff Bridges released a new teaser for the film on his Twitter account during the proceedings, showing the movie's unique connection with the southeastern state.

The trailer starts out in London, likely in the moments following the explosive destruction of the Kingsmen's headquarters. Merlin (Mark Strong) and Eggsy (Taron Egerton), in what appears to be some sort of bunker, open a safe where Merlin promises the answer to all of their problems lies, only to find that their magical cure-all is just a bottle of Statesmen Whiskey, distilled in Louisville, Kentucky. "Is that it?" Eggsy asks. However, after the two take a drink of the bourbon, they realize that a trip to Kentucky might not be the worst idea.

The pair then heads off to the United States, where they stumble upon the Statesmen. Early on, they encounter Channing Tatum's Agent Tequila, a "good ol' Southern boy" who loves drinking, breaking the rules, and, of course, being a spy. "Welcome to Statesmen," he tells Eggsy and Merlin. "Independent intelligence agency."

Despite their budding partnership, it doesn't seem like the Statesmen and the Kingsmen will get along right away. Although Eggsy says that they have "brains" and "skills," he pretty quickly offends Pedro Pascal's Agent Whiskey by referring to his signature lasso as "skipping rope," before dismissing Whiskey's objections to the contrary. The culture shock is definitely going to continue to be a problem for Eggsy, who is pretty shocked to learn what a Kentucky martini is. (Hint: it's very different than a British martini.) Still, it seems like the partnership is definitely a go, as Bridges' Agent Champagne toasts, "To our union."

Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Elton John, Sophie Cookson, Poppy Delevinge, Edward Holcroft, and Vinnie Jones also star in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, one of the many films set to blow you away this year. The movie is due out on Sept. 22.
