The Secret Red Dead Redemption 2 Ending Even True Fans Missed
Even though "Red Dead Redemption 2" has been out for a few years, plenty of fans are still discovering new ways to cause havoc in the old West. Guiding Arthur Morgan through Rockstar Games' open-world interpretation of frontier America has offered fans plenty of opportunities to explore the game's deep storytelling and character building, which has been credited as helping to change gaming for good.
The game's incredible wealth of content means that there are certain things about "Red Dead Redemption 2" that only true fans will understand, but it seems that even some of the most dedicated players have missed one secret ending to a crucial mission. During the Horseshoe Overlook chapter of the game, consistent wildcard and eventual antagonist Micah Bell ends up in the Strawberry jail after slaying two men in a drunken brawl. Arthur is tasked with freeing his violent fellow gang member, and players seem have two options to do so: using dynamite to blow open the wall or attaching the hook of a nearby steam engine to rip the bars out of the cell window.
However, a "Red Dead Redemption 2" player recently found a new way to break Micah out of the Strawberry jail, and while some gamers may have stumbled upon this third method before, the overall reaction from the community indicates that plenty had not. Here is the secret tactic that fans of "Red Dead Redemption 2" may have missed.
Arthur can also get Micah out of jail through a much more direct path
A far more straightforward method of springing Micah from his jail cell was shared on Reddit by /u/2006pow, who posted a video captioned, "[Today I learned] there's a third way to free Micah out of the jail in Chapter 2."
In that video, viewers see Arthur sent away from the jail before he simply turns around, walks back in, pulls out his gun, and uses his Dead Eye ability to kill all three guards. He then grabs a key from one of the bodies, heads downstairs to Micah's holding cell, and unlocks the door. Micah then asks for a pistol, which he promptly uses to shoot his fellow cellmate, a member of the rival O'Driscoll gang.
While this method has been explored before, as has the similar process of simply antagonizing the guards until they open fire themselves, plenty of "Red Dead Redemption 2" fans on Reddit had no idea there was a third choice. While murdering the men holding Micah may not be the most noble solution to the issue at hand, considering the rampage that ensues after Arthur frees him, it may be a case of simply making the remainder of the mission a little easier to complete. Micah's turn on his fellow prisoners may also cleverly foreshadow the character's more wicked tendencies, which emerge as the story goes on.
