First Call Of Duty: WWII Trailer Highlights Single-Player And The 1st Infantry Division

Judging by the first trailer for Call of Duty: WWII, players are in for an intense experience this November.

The video, which debuted during Activision and Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty: WWII livestream earlier today, begins with Allied forces storming the beaches of Normandy, before cutting to a number of other battles throughout the European theater.

In Call of Duty: WWII, players will (for the most part) take control of Red Daniels, a brand new member of the United States Army's 1st Infantry division. Call of Duty: WWII will chronicle the adventures of "The Bloody First" as its soldiers fight through France, Belgium, and ultimately push towards Germany. Along the way, Red will be joined by his best friend, a Jewish-American soldier named Zussman, and real-life figures like Jeannie Rousseau, a French freedom fighter (there's been no word on whether or not these celebrities, who also fought in World War II, will make an appearance).

During the livestream, Activision and Sledgehammer Games representatives repeatedly said that they wanted to emulate World War II's "boots on the ground" experience, honoring the "ordinary men turned soldiers" while revisiting some of World War II's most iconic and important battles.

Sledgehammer Games representatives briefly touched on the game's multiplayer and co-op modes as well. In addition to a number of tired-and-true multiplayer offerings, Call of Duty: WWII will introduce "War," an asymmetric competitive mode, a grouping system called "Divisions," and "Headquarters," a giant social space where players can interact between matches. Call of Duty: WWII's co-op mode will be the next entry in the series' popular "Zombies" spin-offs, and will chronicle the Third Reich's last-ditch efforts to create supersoldiers as Allied forces close in.

Call of Duty: WWII will launch on November 3, 2017. Sledgehammer Games promises that much more information will be released at E3 2017, which takes place in June.
