Ninjago Season 15 - What We Know So Far

Created by The Lego Group to go along with the Lego Ninjago line of toys, the animated television series "Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu" started in 2011, airing on Cartoon Network in America. "Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu" — renamed simply "Ninjago" in 2019 — established an extremely loyal and receptive fandom pretty quickly, and the show's instant success has allowed it to continue for more ten years already. Over the past decade, "Ninjago"  has had 14 seasons (though some consider the show's most recent season to be Season 15), a movie, and a miniseries, and it doesn't look like the show will be stopping anytime soon.

The story of "Ninjago" follows six ninjas, also known as "Elemental Masters" due to some having elemental powers, as they battle various evil throughout their world. The fictional world of Ninjago is a mix of both East Asian history and mythology and modern society, and each season of the show focuses on a new storyline and enemy for the ninjas to fight. While "Ninjago" might not be as widely known as "The LEGO Movie" or the new reality series "LEGO Masters," the show has been very successful with an extensive fanbase, many of whom are eager to learn what's next for their favorite characters.

Here's what we know so far about Season 15 of "Ninjago."

What is the release date of Ninjago Season 15?

The most recent season of "Ninjago," also known as "Ninjago: Seabound," came out earlier this year, with the first episode airing on April 4, 2021. Shortly before Season 14 came out, The Lego Group released four episodes of a miniseries called "Ninjago: The Island" in March 2021. This is what has caused a bit of confusion over what season the show is on, as some refer to "Ninjago: The Island" as Season 14, although Bragi Schut, head writer since Season 10, made it clear on his Twitter that he sees "Ninjago: Seabound" as Season 14, with "Ninjago: The Island" a distinct miniseries.

As for when fans might expect a new season of "Ninjago," there is no official word yet, although the tweet referenced above also indicated that in May 2021, Season 15 was already being written. In an earlier tweet from January 2021, co-creator Tommy Andreasen referenced the scripts for Season 15, stating that fans will have to wait until 2022 to see the new episodes. Considering that Season 14 came out so early in 2021, Season 15 will probably come in the first quarter of 2022, but there's no way to know for sure. Hopefully more official news about the upcoming season is released soon.

Who is in the cast of Ninjago Season 15?

Over the course of the show's long run, the same actors have voiced the main six characters. This includes Vincent Tong as red ninja Kai, Elemental Master of Fire, Michael Adamthwaite as blue ninja Jay, Master of Lightning, Kirby Morrow as black ninja Cole, Master of Earth, Kelly Metzger as the blue-gray ninja Nya, Master of Water, Brent Miller as the white ninja Zane, Master of Ice, and Paul Dobson as Master Wu. All of the voice actors are expected to return save Morrow, who sadly passed away in November 2020 (Deadline). At that point, he had already finished recording his parts for Season 14, "Ninjago: Seabound," which is likely his last appearance in the series. It is not known what the show will do with the character going forward.

Other voice actors who will probably return in Season 15 are Sam Vincent, who plays Lloyd Garmadon, Mark Oliver as Sensei Garmadon, Kathleen Barr as Misako, and Jennifer Hayward as P.I.X.A.L., while the rest of the cast could feature new characters the ninjas meet on their journey. Andreasen gave fans a sneak peek of one new actor joining the cast as a new character with a photo on his Twitter, but no details were revealed other than that the character is apparently "one of the weirdest and wonderful ones [the writers] have ever come up with."

What is Ninjago Season 15 about?

In Season 14, the story centers around Nya as she develops her elemental powers of water, which end up being connected to a mythical creature deep in the sea. In the final act of the season, Nya is forced to become one with the sea in order to save everyone, losing her ability to remain on land with the other ninjas. While she may be gone for now, Andreasen hinted that her story is not finished yet. The new season will definitely further explore the elemental abilities of the ninjas, but it's unclear what villains or other obstacles they might be facing.

All the spoilers and hints about the new season so far have been revealed by the writers on Twitter, but there aren't many specifics. A few things that Andreasen revealed are that Jake, played by Nicholas Holmes, will be in Season 15, and that the character Kai will have "much love and romance in the year to come." One thing you can definitely expect is some sort of change with the character Cole, but it's unknown as of yet what will happen. Andreasen responded to a fans question regarding this by explaining that they did not take the decision of what to do lightly, but that he believes they did what would "honor Kirby best."

If fans are interesting in knowing more about what Season 15 might be about, they should definitely keep a close eye on the writers' Twitters. Along with their various comments about the show, this will also likely be the best place to find official announcements about "Ninjago" Season 15 when they are released.
