Disney Reveals Details Of Star Wars Land Attractions

It's one thing to watch a Star Wars movie. It's another thing entirely to walk through one.

When Disney bought Lucasfilm back in 2012, the plan wasn't just to expand the movie universe, but to bring part of the galaxy right here to Earth. Both companies are collaborating on incredibly ambitious and intricately detailed Star Wars Land attractions at the Orlando and Anaheim parks that will allow fans to be completely immersed in the alien worlds we've all come to love.

In a video released during this past weekend's Star Wars Celebration (above), Walt Disney Imagineers and Star Wars insiders like The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and Star Wars Rebels producer Dave Filoni talk about the scope and incredible promise of the upcoming theme park addition.

Although it's mostly just concept art at this stage, each of the speakers reveal that guests will have the impression that they're completely immersed in the movies. At the very least, it looks like you'll be able to rub elbows with C-3PO, R2-D2, and Admiral Ackbar, and that's got to be worth the price of admission alone. Oh, the questions we have for Ackbar.

As the video shows, construction is underway on what's being called "the most ambitious project in the history of Walt Disney Imagineering." But it's still early and no grand opening has been announced just yet. We'll definitely keep you posted.

Meanwhile, take a look back at everything that happened during Star Wars Celebration, including the premiere of the first teaser trailer for The Last Jedi.
