Sun And Moon's Second Mythical Pokemon Discovered

Marshadow is the latest addition to the ever-growing Pokémon roster, but you can't catch it—at least, not yet. Over the weekend, Nintendo released a brief video unveiling the newest mythical creature in Pokémon Sun and Moon, and while the red-eyed and floating beast is extra-creepy, the company didn't reveal how players will get Marshadow in the game. Like other mythical Pokémon, Marshadow won't just appear in the wild.

According to Bulbapedia, Marshadow is a combination fighting and ghost-type Pokémon. Its signature move is Spectral Thief, a maneuver in which Marshadow "hides in the target's shadow, steals the target's stat boosts, and then attacks." In addition, using a Z-Crystal and a Z-Ring will let Marshadow unleash its devastating Soul-Stealing 7-Star Strike attack, making it "punch and kick the target consecutively with full force."

Marshadow isn't just coming to Pokémon Sun and Moon, either. It made a quick appearance in the trailer for Pokémon The Movie 20: I Choose You!, which tells the story of how Ash and Pikachu first met. The film will debut in Japan on June 15, with an international release date yet to be announced.

Marshadow is the second mythical Pokémon released for Pokémon Sun and Moon, following Magearna, first revealed over a year ago. Generally, mythical Pokémon are only available during special events or through alternative distribution methods, and Magearna (which can only be captured by using Sun and Moon's QR code scanner) is no exception.

Nintendo hasn't said anything about how trainers can secure their own Marshadows, but promises that more information is coming soon. In the meantime, you can always pass the time by playing some Pokémon Go, or make a snack and peruse this list of the tastiest Pokémon out there. Given that Marshadow is made of shadows, we don't expect him to make the list. Go ahead and surprise us, Nintendo. We're waiting!
