Dark Souls 3's Last DLC Pack Gets A Launch Trailer

After eight years, four games (five, if you count Bloodborne), and thousands and thousands of deaths, the Souls saga is finally coming to an end. "The Ringed City," the second and final piece of downloadable content for Dark Souls 3, hits digital stores next Tuesday, and to celebrate "the close of the Age of Fire," From Software has released a brand new trailer showing off what you can expect from the final Dark Souls adventure. Rest assured, the series isn't going down without a fight.

In "The Ringed City," players will face off against the "mangled remnants from every age and every land," which in true Souls form means exploring moody ruins and battling all kinds of nightmare-inducing creatures, including demons and a particularly nasty-looking dragon. The video itself is short on gameplay and big on atmosphere, but by this point, that's perfectly fine. It's Dark Souls. We know what to expect.

Previously, From Software said that "The Ringed City" puts players on the heels of the Slave Knight Gael, a non-player character from the main Dark Souls 3 campaign. From promises that "The Ringed City" will introduce "new armor, weapons, magic," will introduce "a new cast of characters teetering on the edge of insanity," and will plunge players into "a long lost city filled with new horrors." So, basically, standard Dark Souls-type stuff.

In addition to new treasures to find and bad guys to kill, "The Ringed City" will also introduce a handful of new player versus player arenas (which are actually live today for anyone who previously purchased the Dark Souls 3 season pass or its first piece of DLC, "Ashes of Ariandel," and an improved multiplayer matchmaking system.

All-in-all, "The Ringed City" sounds like it'll be a triumphant send-off to one of the most influential franchises in the modern gaming scene. If, like us, you can't wait to try it, maybe boning up on the untold truth of Dark Souls will help make the weekend go by a little faster. Maybe.
