Charlize Theron Kicks Butt In Atomic Blonde Trailer

Do not mess with Charlize Theron. In the new trailer for her action thriller Atomic Blonde, the Mad Max actress once again showed off her action skills, proving just how much of a badass she can be.

In the movie, Theron's assassin Lorraine Broughton is tasked with going into the unstable Berlin during the Cold War so that she can figure out who is killing MI6 operatives, including one whom she appears to have had a personal relationship with. She's helped along the way by James McAvoy's David Percival, rocking some pretty weird sweater and coat combinations.

The trailer, released Friday by Universal Pictures, first shows Broughton putting on a wire, likely to record some sort of secret conversation. The trailer then immediately moves into action, showing a pretty intense fight scene set to "Blue Monday" by HEALTH. Then moving into a "Killer Queen" scored segment (because, of course), the trailer explains that Broughton is "an expert in escape and evasion, proficient in intelligence collection, and hand-to-hand combat," which seems pretty obvious from the action-packed scenes being shown. However, Broughton cautions that "talents can be overrated." The trailer also teases a romance between Broughton and a French operative played by Kingsman: The Secret Service's Sofia Boutella, who has also been known to have some pretty badass fighting skills.

Based on the graphic novel The Coldest City from Antony Johnston and Sam Hart, Atomic Blonde also stars John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, and Toby Jones. The movie, directed by Deadpool 2's David Leitch, will premiere at SXSW this weekend before a wide release on July 28. In the meantime, see the 15 best action movies of all time.
