The Cast Of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is Gorgeous In Real Life

Ever since "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" released exclusively on PS5 on June 11, 2021, it's been bringing joy to the masses, even earning rave critic reviews. Plus, behind the scenes, the production avoided the major problem of overworking developers, which led to a better game and better living conditions for those who made it.

Not only is "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" fun, but it features a beautiful cast as well. Though you'd have no way of knowing since the characters are cute animated creatures, the cast is drop-dead gorgeous in real life. Additionally, this group of stunning and skilled voice acting stars have quite the reputation. You may recognize some of them from some major video game or movie titles.

Grab a glass of water, because you are about to get thirsty.

Scott Whyte - Captain Qwark

You've got to love Scott Whyte as the voice of Captain Qwark. The handsome and talented actor has a solid portfolio, including roles in "The Mighty Ducks," "Ghost in the Shell," and "The Invisible Man." You may even recognize him as the voice of Crash in "Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time." Also known for his four-year run on "City Guys" as Chris Anderson, Whyte does well on and off-screen: he's also a musician, per his Twitter bio. This gorgeous guy really does it all.

Can't get enough of Scott Whyte? He'll appear as Mr. Blackhole in upcoming game "No More Heroes 3." And you check from his Instagram where he keeps fans up to date. If you're a starstruck superfan and you just can't help yourself, he can also film a special message for you for just $29 on Cameo.

Debra Wilson - Kit

Debra Wilson is swoon-worthy in more ways than one. The voice of Kit from "Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart" is well-known for her work on "Over the Hedge," "Batman: The Enemy Within," and "Scary Movie 4." On top of those roles, she was a celebrated star of hit sketch comedy series "MadTV" for eight seasons, making her the longest-running original cast member on the series and the only Black woman on the show at the time.

Though her acting talent and sense of humor are top-notch and she did land her role as Kit, Wilson recently revealed the inequity that led to her leave "MadTV" in 2016. As she shared in a February 2021 interview with The Comedy Hype News Show, "I realized that there was white male cast members who were coming in after me making more than me." Though she would have been open to negotiations, "MadTV" refused to hear it, effectively discounting Wilson's talent and doubling down on pay disparity. In her words, "It's not about just dollars and cents, it's devaluing." (Unfortunately, Wilson is not alone: National data shows that Black women on average tend to make about 63% the income of their white male counterparts working in equivalent positions.)

Props to Wilson for standing up and speaking out on this issue.

Jennifer Hale - Rivet

Of all the beautiful people involved in "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart," one is particularly well-known among gamers, and that's Jennifer Hale as the voice of Rivet. Badass, boundary-breaking, and beautiful, fans may know Hale from her prior work, as she's been in tons of successful games and TV shows. She even holds a Guinness World Record (Most Prolific Female Video Game Voice Actor) and loves breaking gender stereotypes and barriers. If you're already blushing, you're certainly not alone.

Most notably, Hale plays the iconic role of Commander Shepard in the "Mass Effect" series. She's also been a part of many "Star Wars" productions, including the game "Star Wars: The Old Republic – Onslaught."

When it comes to the differences between voice acting in games and shows, Hale told Rock Paper Shotgun she finds video game voice acting "particularly demanding" since there's usually more independent work which can make it "like doing a one-woman show for four hours." Though it takes a lot of concentration, effort, and passion, she's clearly killing it. And did you know she also sings? What a woman!
