Banished From The Hero's Party - What We Know So Far

A good hero never gives up — unless you're the protagonist of "Banished from the Hero's Party." In this case, you give up once your fellow party members tell you to get lost. This may not sound like an exciting start to a fantasy anime, but viewers may be surprised what the show has in store for them when it releases in fall 2021.

Originally published as an independent light novel by author Zappon and illustrator Yasumo, "Banished from the Hero's Party" quickly grew in popularity. According to Anime News Network, the series first received official print publication from Kadokawa in 2018. At the same time, Kadokawa also published a manga adaptation for its "Monthly Shonen Ace" magazine. Most recently, the series is receiving an anime adaptation from the likes of Wolfsbane and Studio Flad. Here is what we know so far about the upcoming release of "Banished from the Hero's Party."

When will Banished from the Hero's Party release?

Kodokawa first announced production on the anime adaptation of "Banished from the Hero's Party" in November 2020 (via Anime News Network). The show was initially slated to be released in July 2021, but the series' production was delayed by several months due to "various circumstances." According to a separate article from ANN, "Banished from the Heros' Party" is set to debut in October 2021.

Unfortunately, no word has been given on where fans can catch "Banished from the Hero's Party," though it will likely be available through popular services such as Crunchyroll and Funimation. Another lurking mystery concerns a potential English dub for the show. Not every show receives a dub, but including one goes a long way in an anime's international appeal. Even so, neither Kadokawa nor the show's two animation studios have announced the release of a dub for "Banished from the Hero's Party."

Who are the characters in Banished from the Hero's Party?

In preparation for the anime's eventual release, the show's creators have announced a good deal of the characters and cast we are bound to see once it begins airing. As of now, 12 different characters are confirmed to appear in "Banished from the Hero's Party" (via Anime News Network). The most important of this motley crew are protagonists Red and Rit. Red (voiced by Ryōta Suzuki) is an ex-adventurer who sets out to follow a new path in becoming the owner of an apothecary. He is followed by another reject from his former party, Rit (Kanon Takao) who becomes his business partner and companion.

Other major characters include Ruti (Naomi Ōzora), Yarandrala (Sora Amamiya), Ares (Taku Yashiro), and many more. Not much is known about any of these characters, but the aforementioned four appear to be a group of adventurers (possibly Red's ex-comrades) based on their designs. Other characters are textbook fantasy townsfolk whose more average appearances fit well with the show's slice of life genre.

What is the story of Banished from the Hero's Party?

Blessed with a naturally high skill level of alchemy from a young age, Red was an easy choice early on for the party of heroes combating the forces of the Demon Lord, Taraxon (via Myanimelist). As he and his friends progressed in their quest, however, Red could not keep up with his companions' growth. Eventually, his comrades all outgrew him in strength, and cast him out of their party for good. With nothing left to do, Red departs for the frontier of Zoland, where he opens an apothecary shop using the alchemist skills he gained during his travels.

Things seem fine until Rit, another would-be adventurer who was rejected from his group, arrives and asks to help run his new apothecary. Reluctantly, the two team up and learn to live a peaceful life free from adventure. However, this might not be as easy as he once thought.
