Game Of Thrones Season 7 May Premiere In July

We can almost hear the "dum-dum, dum-dum-dum-dum" of the show's infectious and iconic theme tune kicking up in our heads again. After a sixth season that was widely regarded as the series' best and some of the finest television in recent history, HBO's Game of Thrones has drawn in even more attention, which has generated more instances of the same question being asked: When is the show returning for Season 7?

Though fans can't be sure just yet, as no official confirmation has been given on a release date, actor Liam Cunningham has stated that Game of Thrones could be making its return in July of this year.

Known for his role as the sweet but strong Ser Davos Seaworth, Cunningham was candid about the upcoming season, even joking that he's been letting down others who were anticipating the show's return at an earlier date. "I've been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April," he said in an interview with The Independent (via GameSpot).

However, he did drop a pretty big tease: Game of Thrones may make a summer debut. The premiere date is "July now," Cunningham mentioned. Or, at least he thinks.

What Cunningham does know for sure is that the Season 7 premiere will be marked with a unique event, and that the season as a whole will only consist of seven episodes. "There's going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes," Cunningham said.

This tease follows shortly after HBO released an official "in production" promo clip, which you can watch in the video below. While it's not a solid announcement, and no additional sources like HBO or showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have backed up Cunningham's statements, it seems to be enough for most Game of Thrones fans to hold on to until they get to see more of their sword-slinging favorites sometime soon.

For now, fans can read up on the untold truth of Game of Thrones, filled with facts sure to amp you up before Season 7 finally debuts.
