This Is What Really Happened To Susie On Rizzoli & Isles

"Rizzoli & Isles" viewers will always miss Susie.

For many crime genre fans, "Rizzoli & Isles" is an underrated gem that demands to be seen. The series debuted on TNT in 2010 and ran for 7 seasons, amassing over 100 episodes. Based on the novels by Tess Gerritsen, it features detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) teaming up with medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) to solve a series of crimes, taking them through underbellies that never fail to shock the duo.

Throughout its run, showrunner Janet Tamaro introduced several quirky characters who help Rizzoli and Isles solve various murders and mysteries, turning the series into a true ensemble. Perhaps one of the most intriguing figures to have Rizzoli and Isles' backs is Susie, a seasoned criminalist. Played by Tina Huang, she is a key asset for the dynamic duo. While Susie was a fan favorite, the character was met with an untimely and rather nefarious death. Here's what really happened to Huang's Susie on "Rizzoli & Isles."

Susie died a tragic death

On "Rizzoli & Isles," no one is safe — not even the titular duo's greatest confidantes. During Season 6, Episode 5 – "Misconduct Game," the sleuthing pair discovers that Susie has disappeared. The episode opens with Susie at a crime scene by herself. She feels on edge, especially after a mysterious vehicle follows her. At first, it appears that Susie is only missing, but it's quickly confirmed that she has died. As Rizzoli and Isles dig deeper into the character's tragic death, the duo goes down a deep and disturbing rabbit hole, making this one of their most personal cases yet.

When Rizzoli and Isles head to Susie's apartment, they find a secret area littered with money and evidence stolen from their offices. They find it hard to believe that their ally would doublecross the agency. As they find out the circumstances surrounding Susie's death, they realize she has been set up. Ultimately, it's revealed a vengeful politician framed Susie.

For fans, "Misconduct Game" is a dark and tragic episode, serving as an emotional goodbye to one of the show's most compelling supporting characters. While Susie's goodbye was disturbing, Tina Huang is grateful for how the show handled her character's death.

What the Susie actress has been doing since wrapping up Rizzoli and Isles

Tina Huang's time as Susie Chang concluded in 2015. Since then, Huang has appeared in many fascinating roles, expanding her CV in several genres. Shortly after calling it curtains on "Rizzoli & Isles," Huang landed a variety of guest roles on hit television programs like "The Night Shift" and "Powerhouse." She also appeared on "Shameless" during Season 6 for the episode "Paradise Lost."

After appearing on an episode of "Scandal," Huang got a meatier role on the soap opera series "The Bold and the Beautiful, playing Dr. Campbell for six episodes. Soaps are a key part of Huang's career, as she's also appeared in "Days of Our Lives" as Melinda Trask, a role she continues to portray. While speaking with Lindsey Bowden, Huang gushed about working in the iconic television format, discussing how much she's learned. "It is just a whole different skill set," she said. "You have to learn so many lines so quickly, and you generally only get one or two takes. The pace is insane. You have to realize you are shooting like 60 scenes a day." Huang has also dabbled in voice acting, lending her talents to the ever-popular "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" as ES-02.

In 2023, the actress returned to the world of crime, appearing as Captain Boggs on an episode of "NCIS." While fans and Huang wanted more Susie, it's fair to say that her filmography has considerably grown since "Rizzoli & Isles."
