How Long Does It Take To Beat Biomutant?

"Biomutant" has had a rocky development cycle, but it was finally released on May 25 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game was first announced back in 2017 with a 2018 release window. Years came and went without "Biomutant" releasing, but fans have finally been able to get their hands on the long-awaited title. The game is an open-world RPG featuring a mutant cat-type creature, featuring a complex morality system and combat that combines material arts with bladed weapons. While reviews for the game have been a bit lukewarm, gamers are still finding a lot to like about "Biomutant" — Conan O'Brien included.

Gamers who have already picked up "Biomutant" or are planning to do so in the near future probably want to know how long it will take them to get through the game. Luckily, the director of the game has shared how long they think it will take for players to beat "Biomutant."

Expect to get around 12 hours out of Biomutant — but only if you're rushing

In an interview with GamingBolt, "Biomutant" director and head of Experiment 101 Stefan Ljungqvist gave a rough estimate of how long it will take to beat the game. Ljungqvist said that if a player were to rush through the game, it would take somewhere between 12 to 15 hours. That may sound a bit low, but Ljungqvist clarified that he considered "rushing" to be things like skipping dialogue, refusing to explore, and only doing the main quest — things he doesn't expect most players to do.

On the other end of the spectrum, Ljungqvist said one of the developers is playing the game "the way he usually plays games," and isn't done with the game at 65 hours. It's unclear how this particular dev "usually plays games," but this is a very wide gap for play time.

Then again, RPGs tend to vary in length for different types of gamers. For example, "Cyberpunk 2077" could be beaten in about 15 hours, but players could also easily put at least 40 to 50 hours into the game doing side content. Another good example is "Skyrim" which (according to How Long To Beat) can be completed in about 33 hours, but can easily take over 100 hours if players choose to do all of the side content. In other words, "Biomutant" may require more exploration than you might think.
