The Least Favorite Iconic Video Game Boss Might Surprise You

Boss fights can be defining elements in video games. Gamers will often remember those moments where they've faced off against major villains. These kinds of battles challenge you to learn patterns, execute skillful attacks, and sometimes solve challenging puzzles. There are some video game bosses that will make you rage, while others are just a total joke. And if it's bad enough, a boss fight can almost ruin an entire game.

Whatever the case may be, there are plenty of memorable gaming villains who are just as famous as the heroes they try to squash. Just because they're well-known doesn't mean they have a huge fanbase, however. What are some of the most despised iconic video game bosses?

SVG wanted to know the answer to this question, so 508 people in the United States were polled to find out which was the least favorite iconic video game boss. This is what gamers thought.

The winner Punched Out the competition

The results are in, and it looks like almost 30% of voters chose Mike Tyson from "Punch-Out!!" for this less-than-honorary title. Bowser from the "Super Mario" franchise was number two with 16%, and Sephiroth from "Final Fantasy 7" came in third with 15%.

Mike Tyson is, of course, a real man. But in video game form, he is a classic character who many gamers would agree is extremely overpowered. Even though "Punch-Out!!" was one of the most popular games when it came out, fans have constantly been ruined by this iconic video game boss

Maybe if a new "Punch-Out!!" sequel comes out, Tyson's boxing prowess will be toned down a bit and fans won't harbor so much resentment against the final boss fight. After all, Tyson himself wants to bring the series back, so perhaps the next time you square off against "Iron Mike," you can show him a little more appreciation — right before he knocks you out for the thousandth time.
