Luigi's Mansion 4: When Will We Get A Sequel?

Perhaps one of the worst things Mario has done is steal the show from his younger, taller brother Luigi. But despite Mario's showboating, Luigi is a loyal brother who dares to face his greatest fears for the sake of his elder sibling. The famous plumber in green was put in charge of his first rescue mission in the early '90s with "Mario is Missing!" Then, nearly 10 years later, he got his second shot at the spotlight with "Luigi's Mansion," and it was so successful it spawned a whole series.

On October 31, 2019, "Luigi's Mansion 3" was released on the Nintendo Switch, and it was one of the best games of the year. In fact, you may have enjoyed the experience so much that you didn't want "Luigi's Mansion 3" to end. Sure, there was a DLC pack, but was that enough to make up for the extreme Luigi deficit? You may be wondering if there will ever be another full adventure starring Luigi and his ectoplasmic double, Gooigi.

Luigi's Mansion 4 might be on its way, and quickly

If you look at the franchise's track record, one thing becomes apparent: "Luigi's Mansion" games generally have quite a few years between them. The original came out in 2001, and its sequel took another 12 years to hit stores. "Luigi's Mansion 3," however, only spent half as much time in development.

Another thing you'll discover when reviewing the series is that there is a fourth game you probably haven't played. "Luigi's Mansion Arcade" came out in 2015 — two years after the first sequel, "Dark Moon," and four years before "Luigi's Mansion 3." With that said, the development period seems to speed up each time, which seems to be a good sign of the series' popularity.

Nintendo acquired "Luigi's Mansion 2" and "3" developer Next Level Games in 2021, so there's a strong possibility that fans will see a fourth entry in the series. Reporting on this purchase, Elliot Shaw of Gaming Intel believed that the "new acquisition might mean that new games are on their way soon," naming "Luigi's Mansion 4" as one of those possible titles.
