Rimuru's Powers From That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Explained

Anime often thrives on peculiar situations and unexpected storylines. There's even an entire anime genre, isekai, which is dedicated to placing characters in worlds that are not their own. Isekai is all about the fish-out-of-water story, and "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" (aka Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) not only takes the fish out of water, but out of body, as well.

Its plot kicks off when the protagonist, Satoru Mikami (voiced by Takuma Terashima in the original Japanese version, and Jason Liebrecth in the English dub), is stabbed to death at work. Instead of a more traditional afterlife, he finds himself transported into a magical world, reincarnated as a monster known as a Slime: A blue glob that has a vast array of curious powers. Taking up a new, blue-haired, androgynous form and the name Rimuru Tempest (Miho Okazaki and Brittney Karbowski), the hero embarks on a journey to explode his surroundings ... and soon ends up as king of an entire monster nation.

Before Rimuru arrives on the scene, slimes have a reputation for being extremely weak and underwhelming creatures. So, how is he able to function at all, let alone rise to such an esteemed position? Here are Rimuru's powers from "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" explained.

Rimuru is a unique slime with power levels that are off the charts

Slimes, in general, are passive creatures that hang around in blob form and subsist on ambient magic. However, Rimuru manages to hang on to his consciousness. Thanks to his cunning and tactical mind, he's able to use the natural Slime abilities to absorb and dissolve enemies, and shapeshift into things in order to maintain a humanoid form. Over time, his abilities grant him numerous new powers, from a whole host of supernatural senses and stealthy influence skills to an absurd array of offensive capabilities. Rimuru's tendency to accumulate new skills gives him an eclectic, yet amazingly powerful skillset that includes — but is by no means limited to — super-strong webbing, and control of elements like lightning, water, and black fire. What's more, the fact that his enemies can easily see him as "just" a slime can be a tremendous advantage, especially before he starts gaining fame.

With an ever-increasing arsenal of skills at his disposal, by the end of "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" Season 1 Rimuru is already one of the stronger fighters around. As Season 2, Part 1 ends, he levels further up in a pretty significant way when he becomes a demon lord — which upgrades his evolutionary stage to Demon Slime level, and boosts his power considerably in the process.

It seems that the sky is the limit for Rimuru and his abilities ... and with other ultra-powerful characters, like demon lord Milim Nava (Rina Hidaka and Kristen McGuire), as his allies, it looks like the King of the Tempest Federation is one difficult slime to stop.
