Hilda Season 3 - What We Know So Far
In times like these, sometimes what we all need is just a little bit of lighthearted fantasy. That's where a show like Hilda comes in. Focusing on the adventures of a brightly-haired little girl of the same name, the show takes fun-filled romps through the brightest sides of childhood as Hilda is joined in her escapades in the city of Trolberg by a crew of spritely magic friends. The show originally debuted on Netflix in 2018 and is based on the graphic novel series of the same name, written by Luke Pearson.
Now, fans are excited to see what's next for the charming cartoon. In addition to finishing off its second season, a 70-minute long movie special is confirmed to be in the works for the series (via Silver Gate Media). However, there has been little sign of a full third season coming to Netflix anytime soon. With Hilda's eventual fate trapped in a state of limbo, the details of a potential season 3 are equally drenched in mystery.
What is Hilda season 3's release date?
Right now, there is no official release date for Hilda season 3, even months after season 2 came out. Even more unfortunate, fans hoping for a yearly release schedule are likely to be disappointed. Though Hilda's second season was announced shortly after the release of its first, it did not come out until two years later in 2020. This means that even if Hilda season 3 does get released soon, we can't expect to see it actually get released until a fair amount of time has passed.
Until then, fans will need to subsist on the soon-to-be-released movie special and the graphic novels to get their Hilda fix. There is, of course, a chance that Netflix will release Hilda much sooner than expected. However, until the streaming giant says anything official, the series' fanbase will likely continue to be left in the dark.
Who will be in the cast for Hilda season 3?
Surely, we can expect to see all of Hilda's primary characters make a return for the third season — should it ever come out. Obviously, this includes a return from Bella Ramsay, the voice of Hilda herself. Likewise, it is extremely safe to gamble on returns from the rest of the show's major cast members. Hilda's friends, Frida and David, will likely be portrayed by their regular actors, Ameerah Falzon-Ojo and Oliver Nelson respectively. At the same time, we should see Daisy Haggard and Rasmus Hardiker return as Hilda's mother, Johanna, and Alfur the elf. Finally, should season 2's recurring characters become staples of the cast, it is likely that we'll see John Hopkins and Lucy Montgomery and Erik and Gerda once more.
The only real mystery in this scenario is whether or not Hilda season 3 will add any new characters to the mix. If so, we're bound to see some new voice actors enter the fray. Like season 3's release date, however, we won't know anything until Netflix releases any new information.
What will be the plot for Hilda season 3?
The ending of Hilda season 2 left fans with a bit of a cliffhanger. After escaping a troll-filled forest, Hilda's mother discovers that her daughter has actually been replaced by a child troll named Baba, as explained by TheCinemaholic. Meanwhile, Hilda is left back in the troll forest stuck in the body of a troll. Whether or not this series of events ties into the upcoming Hilda film is unknown, but it may explain why Netflix has kept its lips shut about season 3.
Beyond this, there's very little hinting at what Hilda season 3 might have to offer. The bright side to this, however, is that it could end up being anything. Exploring the unknowns of a mystical and magical world is what Hilda is about. In a weird way, that makes the absolute dearth of information regarding season 3 fitting. In the end, the mystery may be the most fun part about it.
