Small Details You Missed In The Falcon And The Winter Soldier's Final Trailer
Marvel fans seem to be spoiled with content as far as 2021 is concerned. WandaVision wrapped up March 5, and now a new Marvel series – The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – is set to hit Disney+ on March 19. To build even more hype for the much-anticipated six episode run of that latter show, Marvel released an action-packed new trailer that puts the spotlight on Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as he trains to become the new Captain America after being handed the shield by the retiring Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
In the trailer, Sam is learning how to wield the shield, with assistance-slash-partnership from his "co-worker" Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). Together, the rivals will figure out their place in the new post-Cap world while battling Sokovian terrorist Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl) and some masked anarchists.
As is typical with trailers, a lot happens in a very short amount of time, and there are lots of hints to be gleaned from the scenes being shown. With that, here are some small details you may have missed in the latest Falcon and the Winter Soldier footage.
Eulogy for a hero
At the end of Endgame, Steve Rogers was looking pretty tired. He'd gone and lived a whole life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), and returned to the present timeline as an old man to hand the shield over to Sam. His mission was complete, and he was ready to say goodbye. It seems like in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we might be saying farewell to him for real. The trailer might be showing Steve Rogers' funeral.
Early in the trailer, Sam is giving a solemn speech. "Symbols are nothing without the women and men that give them meaning," he says, while the lights go out on museum-style displays holding Steve's suit and shield and motorcycle and other personal effects. Sam is shown standing in front of the suit with the heavy body language of a man considering the immense pressure that's been placed on him alone. It could potentially mean Steve has peacefully passed on, and Sam is having a hard time with it. The first man who gave the shield its meaning is no longer around, so now it's up to the next man to imbue it with significance.

Still (almost) no U.S. Agent
U.S. Agent will probably be a majorly antagonistic player in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but Marvel is keeping the super-soldier under wraps. We haven't seen the front of his costume at all outside of a Topps digital card (via CBR). In this trailer, he's glimpsed very briefly from behind as he runs out onto a football field and high fives a marching band's drum major. It's a shot that's been used in previous promos for the show as well. Marvel really wants him to be a surprise for the audience not already in the know about who U.S. Agent is.
John Walker represents the dark flipside of Steve Rogers, showing what happens when patriotism curdles into nationalism. "When you think about the world today, and the character of John Walker and what he represents in the comics, he very much makes sense in the series," Sebastian Stan told Disney's D23 Magazine about the character's role in the series (via The Direct). "John Walker might tap into a few things people expect from that character, but I think there might be another side to that character that people haven't seen or expected."
Gasel Bank?
We don't know anything about Gasel Bank, which appears to be a fictitious European bank, but its sign is featured so prominently in one shot of the trailer that it seems like it might be a significant location. In fact, somebody already made a page for it on the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki.
Maybe the bank is laundering money for Zemo? Maybe it's a front for Hydra? Maybe some MacGuffin is in a vault there, and Sam and Bucky have to get it out? Whatever Gasel Bank is — or whatever's happening inside of it — may be an unknown, but you should still make a mental note that this location might be an important one.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier comes to Disney+ on Friday, March 19, 2021. We'll see at that point in time whether Gasel Bank has any actual significance, or if any of the other details picked up in the trailer have more to them.
