These Are All The New Operators In Black Ops - Cold War Season 2

Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War brings with it a new storyline and new operators. The Season 2 story picks up along a contraband trafficking route in the jungles of Southeast Asia, according to a season overview. The route is run by a new operator for the Warsaw Pact, Naga.

In addition, Season 2, which launched on Feb. 25, also includes six new weapons, four new multiplayer maps, new game modes (including the classic "Gun Game" and a new zombie "outbreak"), and more. Three more operators will be added throughout the season as well, bringing the cast of Black Ops Cold War's unique characters to a grand total of 20. Samantha Maxis, Terrell Wolf, and Karla Rivas will all join NATO forces throughout the rest of Season 2. The details for those three later additions haven't been made available, but here's what is known so far about all four operators being added in Season 2.

Naga: The king of the jungle

Arguably Black Ops Cold War's most visually striking operator, Kapano Vang's nickname, "Naga," refers to a race of semidivine, half-cobra-half-human creatures who "are potentially dangerous but often beneficial to humans," according to Brittanica. It couldn't be a more apt name. We learn more about Naga from a Call of Duty Season 2 blog post. Originally from Laos, Naga was raised through the decades of conflict that plagued Southeast Asia through the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Through a violent coup, Naga took control of an existing drug cartel and became a fierce warlord who earned his wealth by trafficking narcotics and weapons through Southeast Asia's famous "Golden Triangle," a region that encompasses Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos.

Naga is known by his troops, or "temple dogs," for his fierce temper and brutality, which also made him a perfect candidate for Perseus's team. Naga is described as paranoid, brutal, and vindictive, whose sense of reality has been further warped by "a combination of spending too much time in the jungle and 'dipping into his own supply' a few too many times." That said, he's also described as an "astute businessman."

Maxis: To hell and back again

Samantha Maxis has been a part of the Call of Duty franchise since the release its on-again-off-again zombie series with World at War in 2008. She was introduced as a playable character in Black Ops' zombie mode, and in week two of Season 2 of Black Ops Cold War she'll make her return. Maxis now joins the Requiem team in the fight against the outbreaks of zombies, as well as NATO in Black Ops Cold War multiplayer and in Warzone. Until now, Maxis's appearances have been limited to Call of Duty: Zombies, which has existed within an alternative universe from the Call of Duty series main storyline. There aren't any new character profiles on Maxis just yet, but there is some background information available.

Samantha Maxis' role in the zombie storyline is complex, to say the least, switching between antagonist and protagonist and hopping between worlds. However, her latest role is in preventing Omega Group from harnessing the power of the Dark Aether.

Wolf: When swamp people strike

Hailing from the swamplands and decked in hunting gear, Terrell Wolf will also join the NATO forces in Black Ops Cold War in Season 2. According to the season overview, the Wolf learned to hunt game in the bayous that surrounded his grandparents' home in Louisiana. He entered the military on his 18th birthday, in memory of his fallen brother, and advanced into the ranks of the Army's special forces, ultimately becoming a Delta Force sniper.

In Season 2 of Black Ops Cold War, Wolf is selected for his knowledge of jungle warfare as part of a rescue mission by Frank Woods to search for Russell Adler. Not much else is known about Wolf yet, including a release date. But the ghillie suit covering the back of his gator-skin vest and the netting covering his arms make him an interesting looking character.

Rivas: The Cartel killer

Also aiding in the search for Adler is the Nicaraguan guerilla fighter Karla Rivas. Very little information about Rivas is known except for what the Season 2 overview says. She grew up surrounded by the Menendez Cartel, a criminal organization known for its trafficking of narcotics and arms throughout the Call of Duty: Black Ops series. "Her firsthand experience of the deadly consequences they had on their surrounding communities drove Rivas to dedicate her life to ridding her country of the Cartel's influence, using guerrilla tactics to weaken them by any means necessary."

Rivas takes an unconventional approach to the operator's look and is covered in body art and colorful jewelry. A release date has not been named for Rivas in Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War yet. But aside from Naga, who is available upon Season 2's launch, all of the new operators will be available in individual operator packs from the game's store.
