The One Feature 71% Of People Want To Be Improved In Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4's rumored remake is being closely watched, especially following the sales of the Resident Evil 2 remake and the critical reception of the Resident Evil 3 remake. While the game remains a landmark entry in the franchise, there are some issues that hindered Resident Evil 4 from reaching greater heights, and gamers have made their voices clear on what needs to be improved in the remake.

In a survey conducted by SVG, participants were asked what features/improvements they'd like to see in the Resident Evil 4 remake. A vast majority of participants selected "Improved AI for Ashley" as their most desired improvement, while 9% wanted to see quick-time events removed, 8% wanted the return of Mercenaries mode, and 6% longed for a greater presence from supporting character Luis Sera. 5% of respondents said they would prefer other features included in the Resident Evil 4 remake, including more scenes involving the dog that Leon saves early in the game.

Ashley Graham: A misguided individual

Resident Evil 4 is largely considered one of the best titles in the long-running Resident Evil franchise, but one of its greatest flaws was the AI for Ashley Graham, the daughter of the President whom Leon S. Kennedy must protect at all costs. Oftentimes, Ashley Graham would obstruct Leon's path, receive inadvertent friendly fire, or otherwise seemingly throw herself into perilous situations needlessly.

There is a portion of the game where players actually get to control Ashley. However, these sequences were far less frustrating than the sequences requiring Ashley's protection.

Respondents suggested a few other much-needed features for the remake for Resident Evil 4. For instance, one commenter mentioned they would like to see smoother controls, compared to the third-person shooting in the original Resident Evil 4. The Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes both provided an over-the-shoulder camera, but granted the protagonists much more nimble character movement.
