This Is How To Get A Custom Crosshair In Fortnite

2020 was yet another great year for Fortnite, attracting over 350 million players worldwide. And one of the ways developer and publisher Epic Games keeps bringing players back is by providing them with a dizzying number of character customization options. Practically everything about Fortnite can be customized, from the character's appearance and weapons to the game's loading screens, and even the umbrellas. Even with hundreds of millions of other players, everyone's version of Fortnite is unique.

One little-known way in which players can modify Fortnite is by customizing their crosshair. It's an in-demand feature, but it can also be difficult to figure out how to use. There are also different procedures for modifying the crosshair on the console version compared with the PC version, although there is one method that works on any platform.

Fortnite is currently available on Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, iOS, and Android. If you want a fun method that won't get you flagged by Fortnite's anti-cheat software, here's how to customize your Fortnite crosshair.

How to customize your Fortnite crosshair on any platform

Fans have found one way to customize the crosshair on every version of Fortnite, but the drawback is that this method only applies to the game's Creative Mode, the game's level editing tool. The player can invite up to 16 friends to join a battle in a created level, but not the general public.

To customize your crosshair, fire up a 1v1 map in Creative Mode, then open the game's menu and go to the Devices tab. Find the HUD Message Device, which looks like a shortwave radio. Equip it, then throw it on the ground. Approach it and hit the "Customize" button prompt, opening the customization menu. Inside the "Basic Options" tab, find the "Message" box. The message you type in the box becomes your custom crosshair and can be up to 150 characters long.

Then, alter some of the settings to make the crosshair appear. Set "Time from Round Start" to one second, to make it appear when the level loads. Set "Display Time" to permanent, to make it display for the duration of your session. Finally, to make sure your crosshair is centered, open the HUD Settings menu and tinker with the "HUD Scale" option to resize it. Around 74-76% should be the sweet spot for most reticles.
